Ball Don't Lie - NBA

It's official: Oklahoma City Thunder

"Well, it's hard to keep a secret." Ah, truer words have never been spoken, Clay Bennett.

After weeks of dumb guessing, the Oklahoma City NBA franchise finally announced it will be called the Oklahoma City Thunder, and unveiled the logo and colors before a large crowd gathered at Leadership Square today. Let me tell you, the AC/DC was a rockin'. Here's a look at some Thunder gear:

Are you Thunder struck?

Yawn.

Do you like the OKC nickname and logo?

Well, I'm still going to refer to them - permanently - as the "Thundercats". It's close enough......

My own humble opinion, Thunder doesn't mean anything to the area. I thought a better team name would have been roughnecks or cowboys, to reflect the history of OK.

I wish they would have picked The "Wind". Logo looks completely gay though.

    Why not the OKC Boomers?
It fits right in with state history. It's plural. It has undertones of energy and excitement. It just works.
But Thunder? The WNBA has the Sun, Sky, and Storm. I rest my case.

the logo is crap. no creativity whatsoever. the practice jersey logo looks better. and i think a bit of gray, white, and black to compete with the spurs colors. aren't thunderous clouds, black, gray and white? why is there blue and orange? and what the hell are those two parallel strips running from end to end suppose to convey?

The name is ok, but the colors are not. It is somewhat similar to the knicks already.

Being from Oklahoma City I wasn't enthusiastic about Thunder being the nickname in the first place, but I kind of accepted it. Now I'm not so sure, I think the colors are awfully bright considering the nickname has to do with Thunderstorms which are generally gray to blackish. Yeah, I know gray isn't a sports color but I think the practice jerseys with black and white and Oklahoma City on them look better than this. What's that logo anyway? It looks so generic, like you could replace any city and or nickname on it, how does it make me think of Thunder in any sense of the word? Everything about this looks forced...given that everyone knew what the name was going to be anyway you would think they could have spent all that time working on something better than this! Instead this looks like a last minute thing.

That's it? That's all they're doing for a logo? Name's fine, but where's the imagination.

Whoever the graphic designer of that logo is, fire that person right now. I seen better stuff in Mario Paint.
