It's not a fun time to be a Nuggets fan

Just a day removed from losing to the Sacramento Kings, the Denver Nuggets up-and-way-down defense offered up 151 points in double-overtime to the Seattle SuperSonics. (That's what you get for running up the score a few weeks ago, boys.)

As you can imagine, the fine folks over at the FireGeorgeKarl.com are none too impressed with the Nug recent poor play. You'll want to go read all of the comments from last night's loss -- they make you feel so much better about your team, trust me -- but here's a small taste:

• J2Y2K3: "I've never been so disappointed with the Nuggets. It's too late, but what the Nuggets have needed all season long is some anger. ... Players like Diawara and even Reggie Evans (pre-trade) should have been rewarded for their defense, but no the Guggets and George NC (Nonchalant) Karl decided that defensive players were not important, forgetting how close defense allowed them to almost beat the Spurs last year in the playoffs."

• Petey: "George Karl sure taught J.R. Smith a lesson tonight, didn't he? Smith blew that showboating dunk in the Sacramento game (video), so Karl taught him a real lesson by only playing him 16 minutes against Seattle, leaving him on the bench for most of the 4th quarter and all of both overtimes. It doesn't matter that the Nuggets are better with Smith on the floor. It doesn't matter that the Nuggets could've used some fresh legs during the overtime. All that matters is that Karl had to show his displeasure. Whether or not the Nuggets win games is secondary."

• Kenoshakid: "Is it wrong to root against the Nugs making the playoffs, just to ensure that Karl gets fired? After all, next year is probably the last of the Nugs' window (if there is a window), and it will be another lost season if Karl is still around."

So, please, if you hear any Nuggets fans listening to Elliott Smith today, call 911 and/or cut the cord to their boombox immediately. Don't let them use any plastic protractors either.

(And by the way, before you go purchase the FireGerorgeKarlsStylist.com domain name, Karl wore that  fugly handmade Space Needle tie as a sign of his affection for the Seattle area. It's a nice gesture, sure, but wouldn't a simple pin have done the trick, Georgie? Ugh.)

Skeets, listen to you all the time on the podcast. You guys do a great job.
As a Nuggets fan, let me tell ya, today is a crap day. But it's just another crap day in a crap season of rooting for the most talented and least passionate team in the entire league. Any team that can't beat teams like Milwaukee, Chicago, and the rest of em - ya knew this train was going nowhere a minute after it left the station.
The team needs to be blown up, Carmelo and Nene should be the only two guys left at the end of the day. I'll listen to arguments for Camby. Bye bye Iverson, J.R., Kleiza, Najera, K-Mart. None of these guys are bringing anything to the team that they can't get from somebody else.
I am right at the front of the line when it comes to a coach needing to be held accountable, but when you have a roster of talented but worthless primadonnas, you can't blame it all on Karl like the morons over at the website.
Give me a top 2 lottery pick for Iverson AND our lottery pick once this train finally crashes, draft Derrick Rose, and let's see what him and Melo can get done in a couple years.

Watching last night's game, I didn't even realize Karl was playing Smith less. You'd think they could have used his scoring last night.

Agreed that I am very disappointed with my nuggets. The loss Saturday should have never happened. I missed the game and lowlights but was openly questioning where JR was last night. George Karl must have invested too much in the Tar Heels because he didn't coach a lick. The wrong Anthony (Carter) was shooting late in the game and in the OTs while Kevin Durant and Jeff Green had a lot of fun at Denver's expense. The team hasn't learned to pass the ball when they aren't fast breaking, and the coaches are to blame for that.

Nuggets need to blow this "team" up........
Melo has not progressed since hes been in the league, but hey he all ways gets his 25-7-3
Camby doesn't play defense. Yea Yea but have you seen him on the pick and roll.
    K-Mart nice contract.
Iverson Love em. (sorry you left philly for this)
JR Smith great talent to bad he's a moron.
    Wanted err NEEDED PG
Karl has given up trying to teach these selfish, arrogant, me-first, no love or respect for the game players. (minus AI).

The big problem with the Nuggets is coaching.
Iverson, Antony, Martin. How can these 3 be on the same team and
    be losers. Answer: George Karl.

Is John Hollinger still claiming that the Nuggets are a good defensive team? Might be time to change the batteries on that calculator.

Its all the coach. You don't have this much talent, and lose to teams like seatle, then beat houston, boston, dallas etc.. Its all coach. He doesn't get off his fat arse and coach. He's too old for the players we got. He doesn't discipline or yell in timeouts. He doesn't know how to take timeouts...you should take them when the other team has cut the lead to 5, not when there winning by 5. He can go 11 deep in his roster. Hunter should be coming in for camby. Then you have nene, chucky(saw him play couple weeks ago, haven't seen him since), smith, najera, kleiza, thats and extra 6 he should be playing. Horrible, i could go on for hours about Karl...hes retard.

I've been a diehard Nugs fan for 20 years, and there have been some mighty lean years in there. But at least when they were getting pounded every year you had hope for the future and players that you rooted for. I coached high school for 10 years, and I can't tell you how many times a game I watch the Nuggets make brain dead decisions while I sit there thinking "Do these guys EVER practice fundamentals? 3 on 2 drills, or moving on defense without taking your eye off the ball, or weakside help defensive positioning"? After all these years the Nuggets finally have a talented roster, yet I'm less passionate about them simply because they make such boneheaded plays. And that's the coach. You watch the Lakers or Spurs play, and you can't tell me that those teams are good because, top to bottom, their bench players are better than the rest of the bench warmers in the league. They are good because they practice fundamentals over and over and over, and because the coach teaches everyone their roles within the team's system. After the two losses this weekend I feel the urge to break all the furniture in my living room, but then I think "maybe George Karl will finally get his walking papers if they Nugs fall on their faces". And that gives me hope for the future.

Maybe Carmelo was right to be mad when Nuggets had a chance to get Ron Artest who rebounds, plays defense and can score! If Artest is there, Nuggets are in Playoffs and most likely no worse than 7th seed!
Camby and K-Mart are overrated, especially K-mart!

i dont believe this is the closing window of the nuggets. they have carmelo! althought rebuilding and role changes need to happen, i think it is easier to wrap a team around a player like carmelo rather than lebron or wade. i think they may need to just get a true pg that is all about assists (ai is good but i cant remember many championship teams with a scoring pg who is the teams #2 option like he is...) and maybe a better scoring sg (that is if jr does not develope into one). this formula seems pretty easy to work with.

as long as AI and Melo are in one team the ball touches will not be enough for their other teammates. Two overpaid ballhogs will never win you a championship.

nuggets can't win a playoff or a championship because neither of the two superstar have hunger and desire to win a championship coz they only think they are scorer and popular of their talent but they dont know to carry their team what pippen jordan have, dwayne wade oneal had, billups hamilton prince the two wallace had, and ginnobili parker duncan had, al they want is passion to win an eagerness in defense and offense to give way their scoring averages to have balance in the team that is what chemistry in the team to win a title

Let me start off by saying that I've been a fan of this team since Skywalker, The Horse, Alex English, etc, and I will be a fan until I die. But never have I been so frustrated with a team as this years version. I know they have had almost the best regular season they have ever had, but they should be so much better with the guys they have. I've been saying since the beginning of the season...blow this team up. And the first one that needs to go is Karl. 2nd one gone...Carmelo and his lazy defensive ways. Everything starts with him...how many times do we have to see him slack off and let his guy go. I honestly don't think we will ever amount to much of a defensive team with him as our leader. I hope I'm wrong, but be prepared for continued mediocrity.

I think what killed them was the Iverson trade...Don't get me wrong...Iverson is amazing, but they should NEVER have given up Andre Miller! With so many incredible scorers you need an point guard who can pass and defend (like Miller). And you need someone to create on-court chemistry (like Miller). Look at Philly since the trade....a much improved team (with Miller)!
