Love Hubie Brown.
Absolutely love him. Thought he was a brilliant coach, love his work for ABC/ESPN, loved his work back in the TNT/TBS days, and hated it when Turner passed on his services once TNT was reduced to the Thursday double-header back in 2002-03.
Yeah, his flameout in Memphis was pretty easy to call (I was way into one-line paragraphs back then), even on the day after he was hired to coach the team, but that doesn't mean he isn't a voice worth listening to.
And that doesn't mean he isn't incredibly, incredibly scary.
I found this link yesterday over at The Basketball Jones, and it will take you to a basketball coaching website that is offering a sort of how-to manual for coaches, with Hubie taking the lead.
Brown was paying a little more attention to his hair back then (trying to be delicate, here; because, again, we're scared of the man), so we're guessing the clip was filmed sometime in either the late 1980s, or early 90s.
Here's a YouTube version of the piece you'll find on the site:
The man is intense. And talented. And smart. And scary. Very, very scary.
This seems like as good a time as any to bring up the time when a Kentucky Colonels (the ABA team Hubie used to coach) walked up to Brown after a Colonels practice to ask Hubie a rather innocuous question.
Brown's response was just to stare silently at the man, without blinking, for a good minute and a half, until the executive excused himself from the state of Kentucky.

Hubie Brown and Dick Stockton were my favorites. Where is Dick Stockton now? Did he retire?
Also, loved the days of Kevin Harlan and Doc Rivers. Back before Doc permanently damaged his voice from yelling as a coach, he had a great TV voice. He and Kevin were quite a team.

Dick Stockton: "What a shot by Tim Duncan!"
Hubie: "Well Duncan is a guy thats gonna get you 20 plus-points, 10-plus rebounds, and 2 blocks night in and night out."
Dick Stockton: "Great finish by Josh Howard!"
Hubie: "You can always count on Josh Howard to get you around 20 points, 7 rebounds, and shot around 50 percent from the field. He's also gonna shoot the ball well from the line.... somewhere around 80-85 percent."
