Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Two juicy trade rumors for you to chew on and spit out in the comments. The first rumor, via the Bergen Record, says that Rod Thorn, Kiki Vandeweghe and the Nets want to start fresh by making a move for Carmelo Anthony. Denver Stiffs wonders what type of package it would take to get him? The second, via Sam Amick at the Sacramento Bee, throws a Ron Artest-for-Josh Howard swap to the world. Early poll results show Sactown Royalty is on board. But what do you think? Can you see either of these trades happening?

    Yes! Get Mellow out of Denver. That way he can get some fresh DWI's in a new state and squander his potential on a new court. Why not just trade Mellow for Artest? Cancer for cancer! It all balances out!

    Josh Howard has been hitting the Devils Lettuce too much even for NBA standards. He might fit well in Denver where the altitude could increase his high. Linas Kleiza is the best player on the Nuggets. Hopefully He will take over as team ball hog.

    For no reason would Denver trade 'Melo. Nor would he want to come to New Jersey. New Jersey should take a look at Al Jefferson and a backup PG for Devin Harris in the draft. Their biggest weakness is inside. Love ya, Josh Boone, but...to get into the playoffs, NJ needs an experienced, rebounding big guy.
    Sacramento has a lot of good things right now...but they're in a tough division. They would need acquire someone like LeBron James to win over the Lakers and Suns. Or...Kobe would have to retire, along with Stevie Nash. None of those things look likely. Sure they've got dough. Is Josh Howard the answer? I don't think so. They need a point guard first and foremost. If they can trade some of their bench for, say, either an '08 draft pick or someone like Kirk Hinrich, maybe Jamal Crawford, maybe even Brandon Roy or Allen Iverson if things don't work out in Portland or Denver, respectively. Things are bleak on that front.
    Carmelo's too much of a risk for a GM off the court and on the court. On the court, all he does is shoot. Lord knows if you can reform him from that. Off the court, he's a little immature, as we know.
    Artest's not so good off the court either. I think he, like maybe Jermaine O'Neal, is still a good player, but has lost limelight thanks to Boston's Not-So-Big Three and Kobe and Pau, and CP3. Put them on good teams and they will deliver.

    Trading for Ron Artest is liking making a deal with the devil. Has destroyed every team he's been a part of including his college, St. John's. Proceed at your own risk.

    anthony is a joke he is nothing but a selfish on court ball hog that never acknowledges his teamates to try to make the team better once he gets the ball all he wants to do is hoist up shots or take it to the rim you cant win that way look at kobe he was the most quintacentals of all ball hogs now he knows how to distribute the ball and there team is going to go to the conference finals but to anthony off the court carmelo is a felon his days in denver should be numbered trade him

    The only way Anthony would go to NJ is if VC went to Denver, which, as most people will say, won't happen. Plus, I personally think Carter and Anthony would clash REALLY badly.
    As far as Howard/Artest, if a 1-1 trade happened, Dallas would be making a big mistake. Howard has a lot of untapped potential. Still, they did do one of the most stupid trades ever to get Kidd, so I wouldn't be surprised. Nothing against Kidd, he's an awesome player, but Dallas could've gotten better in the trade.

    The first one is absolutely ridiculous. I don't think Sacramento has anything that Dallas would want. Dallas is a solid team with Jason Kidd on board, but in the future it will rot. This wouldn't have been so, and the Mavericks would have been a much better team in the following years, had they just let Devin Harris grow up in Dallas. Now, their only chance to keep up with the growing likes of New Orleans and Utah, is basically hopeless. But they think they've gotten better, so they would never trade Josh Howard. Unless, of course, if they got LeBron or Kobe or any other megastar in return. Ron Artest, friends, is not a megastar. But I'm not here to speak only of Dallas's problems. Denver is another.
    I think, that if Carmelo Anthony were to leave the Nuggets, through trading or waiving, or whatever reason, Denver would become a better team. Think of it like this. Let J.R. Smith take Andre Iguodala's place. Let Marcus Camby take in for Chris Webber. If he's not enough, add in Kenyon Martin as well. Let Lanis Kleiza(spelling error, I think?) develop into a mini-star. Denver is better than the Philly roster that beat everyone to the Finals, but apparently lost. So? They reached the Finals. And this time, the Denver roster that A.I. owns is better than the Philedelphia roster about 7-8 years ago. Denver has a legitimate chance to survive in this race out West! But wait! Hold it! Back to reality for us. No one wants Carmelo "DUI" Anthony.

    Last I heard the Nets aren't looking to start an anus farm, so there's no need for Melo. If I am wrong and they are starting an anus farm, Artest need look no further for a home. Get real rumor-meisters, these guys are badly damaged goods and every front-office in the league knows it.

    I think both trades could work for all teams involved, but this does bring up an interesting dilema, what happens when the Nets move to Brooklyn and LeBron ditches Clevland for the NYC to play for Hova's Nets? Could Melo and LBJ make a winning tandem or a bigger mess?
    Thoughts?

    i think they both great deals. Carmelo for Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams, Nenad Kristic would be great for both teams.
    pg = harris, armstrong
    sg = vc, ager
    sf = carmelo, nachbar
    pf = swift, boone
    c = diop, williams
    pg = marcus, atkins
    sg = ai, jr smith
    sf = jeffersonkleiza
    pf = kenyon, najera
    c = camby, nene
    and for the josh howard ron artest deal, i think dallas will benefit more cuz artest and kidd leading the defense sounds great, and for sacramento, well they just getting another scorer

    to get carmelo, jersey would have to give up talent, such as jefferson or the young point guard in harris, or even vince, who is past his prime
    getting carmelo will not be easy, but it could happen
    as for artest for howard, thats good for sactown, as long as howard does not turn into the teams marijuana dealer

    1-Melo to the Nets seems fair,but they already have a scorer in Vince Carter,reborn.
    2-If this deal happens, it will help BOTH teams.If Dallas gets Ron Artest,they will have a good scorer and a player who can guard the other teams' best player.If Sac-Town gets Howard,they will have another great scorer and a good personality in Howard.

    Melo isnt going to N.J. the nets need size. How about this one? Bynum the 7 foot center , Vladimir Radmanovic , Jordan Farmar, from L.A. along with Bobby Jones, from Denver all to Nets.
    Denver gets Jefferson and Stromile Swift from Nets, Luke Walton and draft choices from L.A.
    Lakers get Carmelo Anthony,Nene Hilario from Denver and Harris from Nets

    Lakers are never going to give up Bynum and why would they want Carmelo? With a front line of Bynum, Odom and Gasol you already have the best front court in basketball. Lakers are making no moves this off season.
