Grizzlies' practices are getting heated

Grizzlies beat reporter Ronald Tillery has been taking notes during some informal Grizz workouts/pick-up games, and for the first time in Memphis history he's watching a fiery, healthy, competitive spirit bubble up amongst the players during practice. We're talking about Rudy Gay verbally sparing with others, Kyle Lowry and Javaris Crittenton battling it out every play, and O.J. Mayo and Darko Milicic having to be separated teammates. Sounds awesome! HBO really ought to start filming a NBA Hard Knocks series. I'd watch.

As soon as you become a good player, the Grizzlies will trade you away, so I can see why they would be trying so hard.

OJ Mayo is the biggest "name" the grizz ever had. He and they will still suck. GMs better get a hold of James Posey again if the Grizz really want to win.

The Grizz are another example of young, athletic talent that should be progressing better, doing more, and challenging for a playoff spot, BUT, rarely do. I'd pin it on lousy head coaches and even worse front office personnel. Rudy Gay will be a star in the league, as will Mayo. Only question is, with what team, because it won't likely be the Grizz.
