Following on the heels of Kobe Bryant's record-shattering
61-point performance against the Knicks on Monday, Minnesota forward Ryan Gomes played tit-for-tat,
registering 16 points and six rebounds in the Timberwolves win over an imposing
Indiana Pacers team on Tuesday.
With Mark Madsen out for 8-to-12 weeks with a "DNP - Coach's Decision," it fell to Gomes to keep his Timberwolves (16-30 entering Tuesday night) team from falling prey to a lack of confidence, a case of self-doubt, or a sustained bout of mediocre play from the Pacers. All would have been enough to down the Timberwolves on Tuesday, but Gomes would not let it happen.
"I had to do something," Gomes told the assembled media member(s) after the win. "Had to. It was Gomes time."
Go time?
"Gomes time. My name. Gomes time."
Showcasing some basketball moves over 35 minutes of play, Gomes took an impressive 18 shots on the game, even making seven of those attempts. Though his three-pointers (1-6) weren't falling, he did turn the ball over three times.
His presence was palpable, because he was on the court at the time. And the 11,015(ish) in attendance will likely always remember where they parked on this special night, because they wrote the name of the lot down.
Beno Udrih? Your move.

I'm like the biggest Kobe fan, and I can easily see he is not bagging on Kobe.
And like I always say... "Miles Bryant is gonna OWN the Boston Jazz in 8 games this year to final win the Stanley Cup!!!
