Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Earlier this afternoon, I hit the Y! NBA front page to check out tonight's games, a habit I developed in 1996 or so, and couldn't help but notice that tonight's NBA action was ... terrible.

Knicks in Dallas, Clippers in San Antonio? These are the games TNT picked in August, thinking they'd be worth watching? Thinking they'd be right for a national TV audience?

Then I look to see what stations they're on. All local. No TNT. The NBA picked these, in August, thinking that they wouldn't be worth watching. Knowing that they wouldn't be right for a national TV audience.

It turns out that I forgot about that game. For the second time in as many days.

So, go watch that game. The NBA doesn't want you paying attention to the Knicks or Mavs or Spurs or Clips on this particular Thursday; and I gotta tell ya, Charles Barkley picked the right time to do something terribly, terribly wrong. When was the last TNT game? Christmas?

In the meantime, this is the NBA's equivalent of laying down at the goal line to let the opponent score, hoping it will save time on the clock for a last second drive of their own. Something like that. I really need to watch more football. Maybe I'll start tonight.

The NBA thinks I should. That's enough for me.

Utah for national champ. They have no blemish on their record to 'splain away.

Oh come on, New York-Dallas went to overtime last time...
But then again, that was with Zack Randolph, who gives the Mavs fits.

Without a playoff system, tonight game is about as compelling as Knicks-Mavs.

The NBA really needs to grow a pair. I would be watching either of those games over the football tonite.
And in regards to what E.B. said, the BCS has completely ruined the New Year's Day bowl slate. I have no interest in those games whatsoever. The NBA seriously needs to step up and fill that void. I actually watch hockey on New Years now... it's not like Big Dave to get punked by somebody like the NHL.

It sucks I know, but tomorrow there will be lots of games, not to mention CAVS-CELTICS!

Envigado: NFL gets Thanksgiving, NBA gets Christmas, NHL gets New Year's Day. It's a pact.

Foot-ball? Pray tell, what does that mean? Is it anything like soccer?

The pact can jump in a lake!
And speaking of soccer, Skeets neglected to mention the stranglehold that the English Premiere League has on perhaps our most sacred American holiday, Boxing Day.

Knicks game hasn't been bad at all. Worthy of a national broadcast. The knickerbockers always somehow provide an interesting game.
