It’s Monday, it’s March, and I have complete control of the television remote. What better night to reintroduce BDL's "Game to pay attention to" feature than this balmy Canadian evening? (Scheduled forecast: cold, but not stupid cold.)
Tonight I’m watching Dallas visit Utah, while eating chips and drinking vitaminwater. (We just got vitaminwater up here in Toronto. Wow. So good. Is this the beverage that 50 Cent owns? Because if so, I’d like to shake his hand.)
Mavs/Jazz is an easy pick. The only other match-ups on tap "star" the Clippers (at home to the Sixers) and the Knicks (at home to the Hornets). I wouldn’t go out my way to catch those two home teams if Elton Brand and/or Will Ferrell were suiting up.
So, Dirk-Kidd/Boozer-Deron it is. I won’t be taking notes this time around, but I’ll keep a TLC left eye on exactly where and when Kidd is getting Dirk the ball. I’m still convinced that important PG skill has helped get Dirk’s shot -- especially the money ball -- back on track.
I’m also going to try and figure out whether Josh Howard still plays for the Mavs. Seriously. I know he’s still scoring in the teens and all, but man, his game has been eerily quiet over the last couple of weeks. That sore back is really affecting his shot selection. Perhaps Avery needs to pop him in the ol' Winston-Salems again; straighten the kid out a bit. I don't know. Enjoy the game.
Dallas Mavericks: 39-21, 92.1 possessions per game (25th in the NBA), 108 points scored per 100 possessions (8th), 102.9 points allowed per 100 possessions (10th).
Utah Jazz: 38-22, 96.5 possessions per game (9th), 108.8 points scored per 100 possessions (3rd), 103.6 points allowed per 100 possessions (11th).

Problem is, it's the one that is loaded with B vitamin and potassium, and created to "cure" hangovers. So anytime anyone sees me with one, they assume that I'm hungover. And, yeah, they might be right a few of those times. But it's my love of that tasty grape, and old legs' desperate need for potassium, that trumps all that.
It's a frustrating situation. I've taken to drinking the vitamin water in a flask, just to hide the color. I've started getting more stares, though. People at the library were really weird to me last week.

The brands that have followed, much of them have barely in sugar in the water at all, are even better. There are a couple of spearmint/peppermint-flavored brands you can get that are spot on.

By the way, my favorite is technically "fruit punch." I looked it up. Not many games on tonight.
