You're probably already sick of all the Bulls-related posts
over the last few days, but honestly: as an objective observer, and not just as
a man with black and red bed sheets, this one interests me more than anything
else on the slate tonight.
It's also a good spot to point out that the Brazilian model that claimed to get with Tony Parker in the Brazilian-sense, was and is off her rocker. At-workers should click this link at their own peril, but it has something to do with fabricated photos, German models stuck out (literally and figuratively) in the cold with very little to wear, MySpace (as the last person on Earth without a MySpace, I can't possibly comment), and some sort of soccer player.
The last time Chicago switched coaches, guys like Kendall Gill and Lonny Baxter were the recipients of more minutes, Jalen Rose was two days removed from nearly missing a lay-up after going behind his back in an attempt to entertain in the midst of a 1-on-0 fast break, and interim coach Pete Myers failed to distinguish himself as chief playcaller. This time around, Pete has only the Spurs to worry about, and Manu Ginobili won't even be taking part. Even better for Pete, Jalen Rose won't be in the building either.
Unfortunately for Pete, as has just been pointed out to me by a fellow Bulls fan, one of his nicknames as a player was, apparently, "Skeeter Hawk." Now, I remember both turns of Pete's as a Bull in the 80s and 90s, plus his time spent with the Knicks and with the Hornets (sporting a too-cool Breathe-Right strip), but I can't recall one instance of Mr. Myers ever going by the name "Skeeter Hawk," or any derivation of the term.
It's hard to tell what to expect from the Bulls tonight, as they'll be working under a substitute teacher that won't even cede to a full-time sage (likely future interim coach Jim Boylan probably won't last past this year), but Chicago has had success against the Spurs recently, and they could be ready to prove the "Skiles was only fired because you can't fire the players"-types wrong.
Then again, they're playing the Spurs.
Chicago: 9-16, 91.7 possessions per game (12th in the NBA) 99.4 points per 100 possessions (30th), 105.6 points allowed per 100 possessions (10th),
San Antonio: 19-7, 88.5 possessions per game (27th in the NBA), 112.6 points per 100 possessions (4th), 105 points allowed per 100 possessions (7th).

We all know that new coaches often win their first game in charge. But does this phenomena apply to interims? It doesn't seem to, so whilst there's little doubt the Bulls players will be playing "differently" tonight, will the result change?
We'll find out.
