We continue engraving names into the NBA's end of the season
hardware. Up next: the Most Improved Player. Cast your vote
below,
but first a quick look at the candidates:
LaMarcus Aldridge, Blazers. "He's improved his scoring average almost nine points. He's improved his rebounding by two and a half boards per game. He led the Blazers in scoring 24 times this season and in rebounds 28 times. ... He's improved every part of his game, period." -- Blazers Center Court
Andrew Bynum, Lakers. "We shouldn't let the unfortunate knee injury obscure the extraordinary improvement we’ve seen out of young Bynum this season. ... Though technically no longer eligible for the FG% crown, Bynum had led the league at 63.6%, up from 55.8% in 2006-07. ... his scoring, rebounding and shot-blocking nearly doubled this year." -- Empty The Bench
Mike Dunleavy Jr., Pacers. "With new scenery, a new coach and an offense that matches his skill set, Dunleavy is having the best season of his six-year NBA career. He entered the season with a career average of 12.2 points per game, but that has climbed to 18.7 this season." -- IndyStar
Monta Ellis, Warriors. Ellis won't win it back-to-back, but ... "With the notion of making him a point guard long since shelved, Ellis has become a sensational scorer. In February, he became just the ninth guard in league history to shoot 60 percent from the field for a month when he averaged 26 points on 60.2 percent shooting." -- Feigen
Hedo Turkoglu, Magic. "Turkoglu's 19.7 points per game is an improvement of more than 6 points over last year, and he already has exceeded his career-bests in total rebounds and assists. More impressively, he has emerged as the Magic's go-to guy ... ranking among the top-five fourth-quarter scoring leaders." -- Sporting News
Honorable mentions: Jose Calderon, Raptors; Anthony Carter, Nuggets; Rudy Gay, Grizzlies; Manu Ginobili, Spurs; Chris Kaman, Clippers; Chris Paul, Hornets; Rajon Rondo, Celtics.

Considering that the Wizards have played the entire season without Gilbert Arenas and a fair chunk of games without Caron Butler, yet remain afloat ... Jamison deserves the Lion's share of credit this year in D.C. for stepping up his own game to drive HIS team's push for another playoff berth.
