Dirk Nowitzki with the play-by-play call

For years, I've told anyone who would listen -- mom, grandpa, the guy at the concierge desk -- that Dirk Nowitzki is, by far, the funniest player in the NBA. (Sorry, Shaq.) The video of Dirk squashing a bug at the '06 Finals is still comedy gold, as is the footage of him dancing to the Stones. You can just tell he's a naturally funny dude. The latest proof: Nowitzki, mic'd up with a faulty ear-piece, on the FSN play-by-play call:

Yes, he yelled "short bus" after Corey Maggette's missed jumper. Yes he did.

IF the mavs were to win a championship I think Dirk would give up the stand up gig for the more serious king of the courts look. I can easily associate his humor with his misery. If Dirk was a Knicks, after games his interviews would earn him a weekly paycheck from Saturday Night Live.

Dirk is the man. He'll be back to earn that 8th spot and knock down Kobe the rapist. If he doesnt, I hope the Warriors play Kobe in the first round and do to him what they did to Dirk and My little Mavs last year....

As far as I can tell, Dallas and San Antonio are two of the few teams that can laugh at the rest of the league, considering they are the ONLY two teams to win 50 plus games each of the past 7 seasons and this year if both teams do it, it will be 8 straight years, rings or not, thats pretty impressive. Although I do hate the Spurs and think that they are not only over-rated but are the dirtiest team in the league, Ask Amare and the Suns they'll tell ya.

He should be their play-by-play guy...or Arenas in WSH for that matter. They watch the game anyway and it'd be better than that weird wired ESPN stuff.

San antonio is toast this year.
even if they do make it to the finals, they're no match for boston.
i'm just glad that the league finally suspended bruce bowen's feet.

San Antonio is the model franchise in sports, professional or otherwise! They are the best team with the best player(Duncan dominates the game on both ends, especially defensively!) He has been the MVP of the NBA every year since his 2nd year! Therew is no team with the skill, teamwork, dedication, and all the key components it takes to win championships! The only common denominator in all 4 of the Spurs titles is Tim Duncan!! I am 36 years old and have seen most of the greats including Bird, Magic, and Jordan, and there is not one player that I have seen or even heard of whose game equates into winning championships in any sport as much as Tim Duncans' ! If David Stern does not try to give Kobe and Lebron the title(because it would bring in money and endorsements, Duncan does not sell shoes!) then there is no team good enough to beat San Antonio in a 7 game series! That is the bottom line!!!!

A "short bus" is the mode of transportation that is reserved for people who have mental and physical disabilities. It is a "school bus" that is shorter than other buses.

Did anyone else see Jerry Stackhouse assault Manu Ginobili this weekend??? I mean my god he grabbed Manu's neck and pulled him to the ground, then tried to punch him. How was he NOT suspended for that? I know he got a couple of technicals later but come on. I think Manu is a baby and a great actor like everyone else does...but...wow.

Stackhouse has assaulted several players, including Matt Harpring of the Jazz a couple of years ago. It was just blatant...throwing punches because he's too p*ssy to deal with someone who plays hard.
If the Jazz get the Mavs this year, it will be easy to bait him into getting suspended. Stack, you ARE the weakest link!!

The Spurs are a model franchise? This is a team with Bruce Bowen and Robert Horry... straight-up thugs. The type of basketball those two play is best reserved for Rucker Park; it has no place in an NBA arena. And then there's Mr. Flop, Manu Ginobili; he should be ashamed for bringing that childish style of play to the NBA. He earned what Stackhouse did to him on Sunday. Gotta love that shoot-first point guard of theirs, too(note: sarcasm). I'll admit, Duncan is pretty good but nowhere near the level of Michael Jordan. Not even close.

If Stackhouse wanted to hurt Ginobili he could. He is just fed up with years of Ginobili playing dirty and getting away with it.

Duncan is 10 times the team player Jordan could ever dream to be! Come on, it took Jordan 6 years waiting for Pippen to develop and the role players to buy in to the system before he won his 1st title in a watered down league! Duncan started winning right away, had his first title by his 2nd year and 2nd title by his 4th!!. And dont say one word about "The Admiral" because he rode Duncans coat tails to 2 titles playing limited minutes and playing so far below his career numbers he should have retired to make San Antonios title runs easier! All he did was get in Duncans way!! I know because I use to be an Admiral fan!
