Dana White: 'Shaq wants to fight Brock Lesnar'

Where does one go after dunking on a 13-ton shark? What's the next step after defeating Damon Jones with a plastic knife and killer dance moves? Well, if you're Shaquille O'Neal(notes) you challenge the UFC heavyweight champion of the world.

UFC president Dana White joined "Into The Night with Tony Bruno" to discuss UFC 100's impressive ratings, the possibility of a Brock Lesnar-Fedor Emelianenko match, and the desire of The Big Diesel/Witness/Twitter to step inside the octagon with the Coors Light-drinkin' champ. Sports Radio Interviews transcribes the gold:

"Shaq texts and Twitters me all the time saying he wants to fight Brock Lesnar. He's been training for 10 years; Shaq's probably the only dude in the NBA that can actually fight ... I told Shaq, I said listen, 'Win another NBA championship this year and then we'll talk next year.'"

White's right; Shaq's yearning to get in the cage is nothing new. He's been training with Jonathan Burke of Gracie's Gym for 10 years now, where he does the full gamut of MMA, boxing, jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and wrestling. Cagewriter spoke with Burke in May who said that O'Neal "works his tail off" during drills and "has way more talent with this stuff than people would imagine." And again, he dunked on a freakin' shark!

It's a long shot to ever happen, but Shaq vs. Brock ... I would pay good money to see that.

    All he needs to do is play 82 plus playoffs with the Cavs and win another ring. Dana White will match Lesnar up with someone who can beat him next time. I'll be waiting to see Lesnar in the Octagon in a pool of his own blood.

    Shaq may train like a fighter, but that doesn't mean he can fight.
    I remember watching him throw sissy punch at Brad Miller, that missed by a mile.
    I also saw Charles Barkley pick him up, and slam him to the court.
    Maybe he's improved over the past ten years, but I'd still put my money on Lesner.

    Shaq stop talking trash, he haven't fight a single UFC fighter, to fight UFC Heavy Champion you has do show some record.

    lol.. Basketball players can't fight man... The only dudes I ever saw throw a decent combination in the NBA are Alonzo Mourning and off course, Ron Artest.

    Lesnar has tons of talent, power and ability. What he lacks is proper attitude. I'd love to see him get his ass whooped, but he has a good chance of winning against anyone in his division. Fedor - Lesnar would be my choice

    do you think shaq can beat brock????? i dont think so!!! he must first prove it by challenging other UFC fighters before asking HIM to fight brock... He must prove it first damn aS$.... if he is worth brock and shaq will be possible... for now shaq must concentrate first winning championship without a dominant player around him.. kobe shaq = ring, wade shaq = ring now james shaq = see you next season baby the SPURS would win it this time GO SPURS GO!!!!!

    I love Shaq but thinking that he would actually stand a chance vs. Lesnar is comical. Dude can't even take out Brad Miller wtf Lesnar would F-1 his old azz :)

    king??? lebron james the king??? show us the video of the "in your face dunk" that was made by a college varsity from XAVIER then we decide if he really is a king!!! MJ does not want to be called a king but his airness describe his game. for lebron king of what? HE does not even wear a ring dude!!!!and he wont wear one either like barkley, stcokton, miller, malone...
