Ball Don't Lie - NBA

I couldn't find an archived .mp3 to confirm this, but according to Larry Brown Sports, former Cavalier guard Craig Ehlo thinks Mark Cuban may try and pursue a NCAA living legend to replace ex-coach Avery Johnson in Dallas.

Ehlo, Wednesday, on Sporting News Radio: "I think Mark Cuban will actually go after Bobby Knight. You know he just lives in Lubbock, Texas only 375 miles west of there. Cuban is an Indiana grad and I wouldn’t put it past him to offer something to Bobby Knight if Bobby Knight would be willing."

Now of course, the chances of this happening are Tayshaun Prince-slim to none. I mean, can you imagine the volatile Bobby Knight trying to coach 12 multi-million-dollar professionals? Never. But the thought is awesome — if only see "Dirk Nowitizki, F — Chair to the face — out indefinitely" in an injury report.

Come on Skeets, that will never happen. Knight doesn't have enough strength left to get a chair high enough to hit Dirk in the face. I mean, did you see that Volkswagen commercial? Knight barely got that chair off the ground.

I love bob knight. After he was gone from Texas Tech, everyone doubted that he would come back to coach the NCAA,more indefinitely the NBA. I don't understand why you won't expect him to come back though.I mean after 42 years of being around the game like Bobby Knight has and not think he'll come back, now that's just ridiculous.Especially when it's a coach like Bob Knight, who's record as a NCAA coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders is 138–82.

Even though Knight is one of the top 20 all time best coaches(both college and pro) that always gets the absolute most from the avg player and would probably take Dallas to the next level he will never be accepted because of his temper. Even though I have all the respect in the world for coach knight, any TRUE grownup human being would have no respect for him player to coach wise. His ability with that temper and antics is good for college players but will never work for adults in teh NBA. Although--not all the players in the NBA are grown up and do act more childish then my 12 year old.

if your going to go after a skinny player on the pistons why not go after rip hamilton? he's 6'7" and not even 200 lbs...they are both rather small for their size, but they get it done on the court...

Bobby Knight has coached a boat load of sissies. I wish Bob Knight would try that mess with me or any other man from the streets. Bob would get the taste, and his dentures, smacked out of his mouth. Remember Spree choking P.J. Carlisimo? That's how you deal with that. Oh yeah, and of course the media made Spree out to be a villain. However, I bet P.J. thinks about it now before he runs off at the mouth. Remember Robert Horry throwing the towel in Danny Ainge's face? Ainge didn't want any problems....ha hah ha! I love people that stand up for themselves anywhere. At my job now, my supervisor thought she was tough until I got dead in her face, nose to nose. She shribbled up and got scared. now she see's me and she is scared. The great thing is, she can't fire me because she tried to get hard first; which gave me all the right to defend myself. So, people need to man up in this society, quit acting like cowards. Where would society be if Rosa Parks didn't take a stand? Where would America be if the Colonists didn't stand against the British?

To bad we are not talking football. He would get along great with Tank, TO and Pac Man. I just love Dallas sports...a real circus full of chokers. The sports scene in this area is nothing if not entertaining, and as usual Cuban thinking he has a clue about b-ball. The whole thing is scary.

Here is the deal.....Johnson is a good coach that was in the following situation....Cuban....babe hound.....Dirk....babe hound...Kidd......BH as well and running mates of the boss. Therefore...Johnson out....look for Westhead or somebody "liberal" in as coach. Ain't just about hoops there in Dallas!

Sometimes Cuban makes no sense. Firing Avery Johnson after all the man has done for them as a coach, is stupid. He needs to trade or just dump Nowitzski, who fades under pressure, EVERY year, without fail. He gambled with taking Jason Kidd, who plays a much different game than the Mavericks do. It's not necessarily a big mistake, if he reworks the team some, to get more players who will compliment Kidd. Then I think they have a chance. Find guys who can play the half-court set and also blow other teams away with the break. But, with regard to possibly offering the head coach job to Knight??!!??!! That's the ultimate stupidity, from a very smart businessman. Knight would lose the players beforee they ever left training camp. The pro's could not adjust to him, or vice versa. Prt of that results from the reputation Knigt has, but most of it is just the simple fact of how the man operates. He will not change, neither will the players, so they'll be at loggerheads for as long as Cuban lets the situation go. I would be very surprised if there's a serious offer. I would sooner see him asking Knight for advice, than for Knight to be the coach. I lived in Texas twice while serving in the Army, and I know how they feel about their teams, all three of them. I loved their intensity, as it reminded me of Boston fans rooting for the Celtics, up where I'm from. I want them to succeed. I also like Cuban, I think he's on the right side of many issues, opposing Stern, and he's rather entertaining. But he also cares deeply about the team and winning. I believe axing Johnson is wrong, but Avery will land on his feet, he's always had a way of proving people wrong about him, so this will be no different. He is well thought of in the league. But dear God, let's not have a Bobby Knight, head coach again, let him quietly settle in as an analyst with ESPN, where he is surprisingly good and showed a very deft, subtle, sense of humor in the round tables with Digger and the rest. Most people have never had the chance to see that part of him, or the humanitarian side, albeit all the volunteer work he's done to help former players who've had catastrophic injuries, and he's paid all the bills and helped get the family back on their feet-in one case going back almost 20 years; or the auto accident on the interstate in FL, on his way to a fishing vacation, and he stopped to render assistance, only to find the wife pregnant and about to give birth, so he helped the husband get things going with the police and then drove her to the hospital, stayed with her until the husband arrived, and then paid for everything, and never told them who he was. Point being, he seems more relaxed now than in a very long time, he needs to just enjoy it and be happy, ease up on the "driven" side of things.
