Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Just before the end of Thursday night's Nuggets-Lakers first half, Chauncey Billups(notes) was trying to inbound the ball under Denver's basket when he couldn't find an open teammate. Timeout, right? No. Thinking quickly, Billups did what any manly man would do in his situation. He bounced the ball off Kobe Bryant's(notes) back, square in the numbers, caught it and hit the layup — all in less than three seconds! Check out the video:

The Hoop Doctors worry that some of you might call the move risky or reckless. Heck, maybe even juvenile. But, like them, I politely disagree. An inbounds move like the one above is exactly what you call "crafty" and Mr. Big Shot is a crafty veteran as they come. Don't believe me? Check your Merriam-Webster:

I do not depend on refs, but fans need to watch the games and replays and see the truth. Has the NBA turned dirty ??? Has the NBA turned to chris web style games ???

Im not knocking Denver they played well and they got the V, but the refs did a terrible job down the stretch of the last game. Its the player's responsibility to win the game but the refs have got to make the calls when it counts. I feel that if the officiating wouldve been a little better or even if they made the obvious calls L.A. would be up 2-0 right now. Maybe the NBA should allow teams to "challenge" plays like the NFL does. If not the team then the refs should be able to correct their own mistakes. Cmon! J.R. Smith clearly violated the jumpball on the replay and there was nothing anyone could do about it! The NBA is for the players as well as the fans and we all deserve a better effort on the part of the league to make mistakes like this obsolete.

Great play by Billups, although I'm not convinced that both his feet were set inbounds when he grabbed the ball. I watched the game with a friend who refs and he likes to point out stuff like that.

I love seeing/hearing the Faker fans cry and beg after losing a game against a team that is at full strength. Taking 7 games to beat an injury depleted Rockets team should have been enough evidence to tell any sane person that the Fakers are in trouble. Denver will win in 6 games- David Stern will make sure that the Fakers win one at home. Anyone who thinks that the Fakers should be up two games is just completly in denial- by all rights they should be DOWN 2 games. They got lucky the first game. Denver obviously is the better team. And to think that if Iverson WANTED to play team ball, instead of "ME" ball- he could be on the floor now instead of Billups. Guess that really says all anyone keeds to know about Iverson (and his "hurt" back). Go Nuggets - whip the Fakers.

The fact the Billups was willing to do this in the WCF makes me love him even more. I feel like a missed out on a large portion of my life by underappreciating him.

when cjauncy threw the ball off the rapists back its the only play of the game that a laker was not complaining. Still the same old lakers, soft as a roll of charmin. Thank god for derek Fisher missing that shot, it should be 2-0 denver it will be 4-2 denver, maybe the rapist will retire after choking again.

The rapist?? huh.... ok. rapist, never!! that white girl gave it up to him. she was a whore with all that sperm on her underwear from other guys. she was a prostitute more like it cause he had to pay her for the sex in the end. it's not called rape when some one is willing. how about melo and his dui. lets talk about that. freaking looser!! let me drink and drive so that i can go kill someone on the road. i would rather we called a rapist than a killer. also, the nuggets have never ever ever won a championship in their lives. they suck!!! the lakers are a dynasty team. always have and always will be. that's why they are the most criticized in the nba. all eyes on melo.. yeah ok. my a$$. you must have not seen kobe make that 3 pointer with melo right in his face.
