Cavs land James some help

Finally, LeBron James has a supporting cast.

In an 11 player three-team blockbuster trade, the Cavaliers acquired Chicago's Ben Wallace and Joe Smith, Seattle's Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West before the trade deadline closed on Thursday, two league sources confirmed.

The Cavaliers sent Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Shannon Brown and Cedric Simmons to the Bulls, and Donyell Marshall to the Sonics. Seattle also gets the expiring contracts of Chicago's Adrian Griffin and Cleveland's Ira Newble.

The trade marks the end of the Wallace experiment in Chicago, where the $60 million signing two years ago never fulfilled expectations. He'll try to revive his career alongside James, who has been desperate for an improved supporting cast. Smith, a 6-foot-10 forward, has been one of the Bulls' most consistent players, and Szczerbiak gives the Cavs a consistent outside shooting threat to go with Daniel Gibson.

Great trade if you're a Cavs fan, this helps the bulls in no way other than getting rid of Ben's contract. Waste of a year for them

    from espn.com
In a three-way trade with Chicago and Seattle that has been submitted for league approval, NBA front-office sources say that Cleveland will come away with four new teammates for James, headlined by Ben Wallace from the Bulls and sharpshooter Wally Szczerbiak from the Sonics.

After Cleveland watched two longstanding trade targets land elsewhere -- Mike Bibby in Atlanta and Jason Kidd in Dallas -- sources say that the deal calls for the Cavaliers to receive Wallace, Szczerbiak, Seattle point guard Delonte West, Chicago's Joe Smith and a future second-round pick from the Bulls

Nice move for Cleveland but the Bulls should of had either Pau(last yr) KG or Kobe AND they did this!!! It's sad to say I'm a Bulls fan.....

Great trade for the Cavs. Wallace will be a very solid inside defender although he won't offer much offensively. But with the addition of Wally world, West and Joe Smith the Cavs will be more consistant offensively.

This just shows how bad the Cavaliers upper management are. They needed a true point guard and got nothing. Queen James needs to go somewhere else for that ring. Oh well. The Cavs deserve an D- for that trade. The NBA sucks anyway.

Bad move for the Cavs, except maybe for picking up Szczerbiak... But Ben Wallace, I mean, please... I think Drew Gooden is way underrated and they're going to miss him... I wonder what Lebron thinks about all that.

This trade was just an act of desperation on the part of the Cavs. It really doesn't help them much, especially considering Wallace's contract will handcuff them for the next few years.

cavs also get sczerbiak and west from seattle - so that will take some scoring pressure off lebron. wallace is a big body inside, allowing z to play more comfortable in the 10-12 foot range.
