This just in, via SLC Dunk and the Deseret News: Mehmet Okur has been excused by the Jazz to attend to a family illness in his native Turkey. The release from the organization didn't give any further details other than to say that Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor had approved Okur's departure to attend to the family situation. At this moment, it is unclear when the Jazz's starting center will return to the team. Utah is on a five-game road Eastern Conference road trip. For what it's worth, our thoughts go out to Memo and his family. A trans-Atlantic flight is serious stuff.
