Breaking news: Garnett suspended one game for popping Bogut

According to The Boston Herald, Kevin Garnett has been suspended one game without pay by the league for his role in Saturday night's "slap scuffle" in Milwaukee. With four minutes remaining in the fourth, Bucks center Andrew Bogut inadvertently caught KG in the face while fighting for a rebound, so Garnett retaliated with a quick open-handed smack to Bogut's Aussie grill. Both guys were hit with a technical foul. Here's the video:

This was an easy call by Stu Jackson and his swarm of suits. KG may have avoided being T'd up for taunting Jose Calderon last week, but when a player slaps another player in the face, that's a suspension. It's that simple. One game seems about right.

Garnett will serve his suspension tomorrow when the Celtics host the New York Knicks.

    Garnett should have gotten a technical when he was taunting Jose Calderon. I'm all for competitive and getting into the minds of your opponents, but there really is a definite line on what constitutes as sportsman-like competitiveness and unruly behaviour.
    I found it a bit funny, but in a professional sport, it's distasteful all the ref's disregarded it.

    i actually saw this game, not just the youtube clips, and context is everything. bogut's constant overreactions in that entire sequence (which isn't shown) as well as previous parts of the game - where he picked up a tech earlier - just make me think this dude is an easily-offended clown. KG is not a clean player by any standards (which other DPOTYs have been in the past 10 years?), but bogut's ejection and KG's technical were enough.

    Never read the comments of Celtics haters. They are most likely disgruntled Lakers fans who have no problem with Kobe raping a chick but have difficulty with on the court intensity.
    KG will get a chance to cool off and rest.

    Please with the rape case and Kobe. Let it go. What has Kobe done recently that makes people bring up the past? He won the MVP, went to the Finals last season and is trying to win it all this season. Give him a break. As for KG, he's cocky character. He's a great player. One of the greatest power forwards ever. But sometimes he acts childish. Gor and James R, I agree with you both.

    kevin needs to stop trying to bully everybody. He is only trying to be a big bully but he's gonna run into the wrong person. The NBA needs to teach these players a lesson and give them a punishment bigger than a 1 game suspention. All of them need to act like professionals. I never have liked the way kevin acts in games. he needs to work on his attitude.

    you morons... why dont you watch the video a gazillion times before making a nonsenseful comment, it was this assclown bogut who slapped kg and not just once but twice!! the first one can be said it's all part in the game but the second one... huh! that's just acting a total idiot as he is... any way all of you just be like a cry babies because you should play as tough and play with all of your heart out if you'll face the defending champs. it's all bout heart and intensity... that's why we're champs!
