Every year the NBA designates a series of "green room" seats
to potential draftees, based around the general consensus regarding where
players are going to end up amongst the first 15 or so picks in the Draft.
It's not really a "green room," in the TV sense. More like a series of tables where friends, family, and, um, "associates" can surround a player as he waits for his fate to be determined.
And while you sometimes get some head-scratchers — players not invited to the room that should be in, and vice versa — by and large the NBA gets it right.
And, since 2001, some players not invited to the green room have taken to stashing themselves in the audience at the NBA Draft, walking down to David Stern's podium after being selected.
Brandon Jennings, for whatever reason, didn't see this as a viable alternative.
Though he was unexpectedly left out of the green room list (Jennings was rumored to go as high as third in Thursday's draft, or out of the top-15 altogether), Jennings decided not to show up at all, despite being in Manhattan. Until he was chosen, 10th overall, by the Milwaukee Bucks.
Jennings then entered Madison Square Garden a little while later, and was rushed onstage with a Bucks cap to greet David Stern just after Stern announced the 14th selection in the Draft. The crowd and TV viewers were as confused as you'd expect.

The Bucks better get used to late arrivals from Jennings, though.
