Ball Don't Lie - NBA

I've read a lot of great columns, posts and opinions on this NBA Finals match-up. A whole lot. But this lil' tidbit caught by AP Sports' Beth Harris is by far the best I've come across: "Occasionally, Luke Walton picks up his phone and gets an earful. 'This is Paul Pierce,' the caller says. 'You’re a bum, and all your teammates are bums.' Only it isn’t actually Pierce — or Carlos Boozer or Carmelo Anthony. Instead, it’s just an attempt by Walton's Hall of Fame father to motivate his son in the NBA Finals. 'He wouldn’t even change his voice,' Luke Walton said." Ha. Bill Walton is straight gully.

His father knows Luke is playing like a bum. Period. Why does he get playing time anymore?

Is this the same ex-Portland TrailBlazer Bill Walton? The one reporters have been saying can't get off his couch to get to basketball games? Guess he'll need surgery for getting off the couch like the current Portland TrailBlazer center. Or, is this the ex-Celtic Bill Walton? The one who actually made it to Staples Center Tuesday night. Didn't he need to be taken to the Celtics locker room during the game? My, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Bill should call Kobe or Pau; it would probably do more good. Seriously, motivating Luke Walton to give 110% only gives you about 10-6-5 and a block.

I can't tell you how thankful I am that not only do I have one of the best fathers in the world, but that he's not and never will be famous for anything.
Besides that, Bill Walton cracks me up. I've often wondered if while he's saying one of his completely outlandish statements if he's thinking in his head, "Man, even I can't believe I'm saying this!"

Well, he has been playing like crap (except for the Denver series), but he is getting reduced minutes. Used to play more than 10 min a game during the regular season.

Daddy should tell Luke to lay off the Gonja before the game, maybe he'd play better.

Give credit where credit is due. This was in the LA Times long before the AP picked it up.
