From the Chicago Bulls' halftime scoreboard, via the glorious 100% Injury Rate:
Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for being on the show and good luck in the decision you make. I hope you make the playoffs.
You know we wonder why they stay. Why a mascot puts up with such outrageous mistreatment. The world tells them they're crazy and they ought to move on; but they respond to such overwhelming logic with a seeming innocence of romance. 'But I love them,' they say without actually saying it. (They can’t talk.)
But is it love or is it dependency based on insecurity? 'Gosh, if they leave me I’ll be all alone and who else will love me? The fans? They hate the Bulls.'
Look, a relationship based on that can’t make it. Nobody has to accept being cheated on or treated poorly. Our mascot today wants to be loved; but they aren’t going to be loved by anyone who doesn’t respect them. And they won’t be respected until they stop throwing away every article of clothing they own. Remember, you can't wear your heart on your sleeve if you keep tossing your shirt in the crowd.
Till next time, take care of yourself and Luol Deng's left Achilles.
