Ball Don't Lie - NBA

Ball Don't Lie's Two-on-Two All-Star Tournament moves to the Western Conference bracket. (No idea what I'm talking about? Click here.) Quick note: First-round match-ups were determined based on the teams' conference records as of Feb. 7 ...

Our second West match-up up the day: Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming vs. Captain Stephen Jackson and Andris Biedrins. (Sorry, Monta; you're just not ready yet.) Honestly, is anyone going to be able to stop Yao in this tournament? Or is the T-Mac first-round curse that powerful? Let's hear it.

A reminder of our hypothetical rules: half-court, offense calls the fouls, "winners out" to eleven (by ones and twos, natch), and you've got to win by two. Also, no jeans allowed. Or Timberlands.

And if you're in a creative mood, leave us a short description of how you see this game unfolding. Who jumps out to the early lead? Who nails the game winner? We'll include the best write-ups in the next round.

Voting will remain open until late Tuesday night.

POLLS CLOSED / WINNER: McGrady and Yao — 68% (6,916 votes)

I'd feel much better about my Rockets pick if it were Artest over TMac. There are not going to be a lot of teams that will match up well versus Yao. On the other hand if the Rockets are playing two non-post players (say Crawford or Ellis instead of Biedrins) than I don't think Yao is going to be much help on D.

If we're assuming Ellis' current status, can we also assume Yao and Tmacs current status? If so, Warriors by far.

Tmac will toss up turnaround fadeaway 23footers and miss all but one of them, but the rebounds will bounce off yao's head into the basket.

"offense calls the fouls" = Warriors win 11 to 0
anyone that watches warrior games on a regular basis knows that stephen jackson would be an absolute monster in a pickup game where you get to call your own fouls. with this rule, the rockets would never see the ball the entire game. jack gets fouled on every single play, if you didnt know. stack jack could "beat" yao and tmac, heck any other duo/trio/quado/quintupo out there, all by himself. andris is definitely only there to inbounds the ball to jack. finally all us warrior fans will be able to enjoy a "Championship", hahahhaha.

Well T-Mac will shoot for outs, but he will inevitably land awkwardly on his ankle and leave the game early. Yao will have to play 2 on 1.
yao will maintain andris down low and stack jack will be shooting wide open 25ft pull up J's all day. fortunately for yao, stack jack is off.
however, stack jack claims he was fouled and yao will never get the ball on offense.

I voted for the Warriors because with Yao and Tracy, you know ONE of them is going to show up hurt. And a 2-on-1 would just be too easy.

I want the upset, but Yao's got this one wrapped up like MGrady's knee. 11-4 Houston, Yao finishes with 13 blocks like it's NBA Street Volume II.

Biedrins and Jackson would crush the hopeless Yao and McGrady one or two of them will be down for the count within minutes.

I like the NBA Street Volume II reference by Greg W, Yao was unstoppable in that game. Rockets win because of Yao's defense, and T-Mac will literally hold the ball for three minutes a posession and wait for S-Jax to slouch a little, then jack up a mid-range jumper and swish it. Rockets 11-2

Is this the 2002-2003 Tracy McGrady? Otherwise he probably subs out in favor of Von Wafer after missing his first three shots, claiming an ailing back.

Biedrins and Jackson have outstaning on court chemistry. Jackson is a great passer better than TMac or Yao, Biedrins is definitely a better passer than Yao, he is way better and both of the Warriors are better on D. In a real game with full squads, Rockets all the way, but 2 on 2 with these guys, gotta go with the Warriors

When you hurt and don't play as much as the Rockets, the Stats are bull. Yao and McGrady averages are good after rehab and rest. Biendrins is the only consistant player, and has no interior help. Yao does kill on points no matter what, rebounds and blocks are Biendrins game. Jackson and McGrady is an interesting match up. McGrady get his assists and scores in dozens, Jackson gets assists, and rebounds, with Monta his role is score, as Monta learns the point. On stable teams this could be interesting.

I say warriors. Like in the last all star yao will put up a three misses it then Stephen passes it to Beidrins and he then calls for the ball gets block by yao but calls for a foul. and repeat till something gets passed yao. warriors, 11-5 assuming tmac get the ball first and gives it to yao and injurys himself and lets yao te the inside.
