And we're back! Welcome to tonight's BDL live blog of Game 3 between the Hornets and Spurs. As always, your hosts and moderators for the evening are Kelly Dwyer, Matt Moore, goathair and me, Justin Everest. From here on out, game commentary can be read in the box below. Please comment away — if your sentiment is funny or insightful, we'll try to post it. I expect a lot of you tonight, though, so make 'em count. Game starts as soon the Cavs or Celtics crack 60 points. Should be around 9:30 pm EDT. See you then.

Not a lot of defense this evening by either team. The third quarter has just ended and the Spurs are up by 5. I look for the 4th to produce the winner who plays good D. In spite of this lack of defense, the game is entertaining.
On a side note I'm surprised by the lack of professionalism on the part of the arena staff taking care of the clock. These playoffs are exposing some holes that need to be filled.

Say what you want about this series, but the bottom line is that the Hornets are NO JOKE.....Period!!! You have to respect the Spurs and all that they have accomplished over the last decade (4 championships in the last 9 years) not to mention all their playoff experience too. But there comes a time when youth, speed, talent, athleticism, and hunger take over. The Hornets had an unbelievable regular season and have made a serious statement during these playoffs thus far. If you choose to disrespect the Hornets, you WILL lose, they are not a fluke and quite frankly they are a VERY exciting team to watch. Chris Paul has proven himself to be the best point guard in the league. He is the REAL deal, and because of him and the young talent in New Orleans the Hornets as a franchise have a VERY promising future! I have no problem with Kobe winning the MVP this year but in my opinion Chris Paul could have won this award too, and maybe should have. Getting back to Spurs, they won game 3 in SA last night and honestly it really was a must win for them, all the pressure was on the Spurs and they did what they had to do. At the same time, any Spurs fan who tells you they weren't nervous at halftime last night are liars....LOL. The Hornets have been dictating the pace of the games since the series started. The Spurs cannot match the speed and athleticism of the Hornets and most importantly they cannot contain Paul. Chris Paul has been running circles around the Spurs and will continue to do so. The Hornets have been averaging close to 50% from the field during the first 3 games and are averaging 100 points a game. Last night the Spurs hit 11 of 25 three pointers, hit over 80% of their free throws and quite frankly got a lot of homecourt calls for some bogus fouls. The Spurs are not a high scoring team, they are not known for shooting threes, and they shoot poorly from the freethrow line. The Spurs are also a slow team, older team, and truthfully I have always found them to be very boring to watch. I still respect them as a team, the championships they've won, and their system of playing team basketball. I just feel the Hornets time is now, and they have also gained my respect. If the Hornets regular season hasn't impressed anyone, or the way they dismantled Dallas, then maybe when they beat SA they will. I can see the Lakers and New Orleans in the Western Conference Finals (and it should be an excellent series) and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets made it to the Finals.....they are that talented, and they are that good!! In the perfect world from the business side of it, the NBA would love to see a Finals with LA and Boston, that Finals would generate A LOT of money for the NBA. The Hornets have what it takes to win it all this year, and I have always personally liked rooting for the underdog. We'll see what happens, but no matter what the Hornets are here to stay. They have the talent and youth to be a fixture in the NBA playoffs for years to come and as a fan of basketball that is very exciting!!
