Avery Johnson gets roasted on TNT's 'Inside the NBA'

Ernie, Charles and Kenny certainly didn't pull any punches last night on 'Inside the NBA,' roasting recently fired Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson. Minus making fun of the time Avery popped Josh Howard in the gunney sack, no topic was left untouched.

"There's no loyalty in Dallas." Ouch. Even I found that a little cold, Kenny ... and I make fun of everything!

not only does avery have a ring, but also had his number retired by the 4 time champion san antonio spurs. i don't think he sucked as a player. great defense. leadership. a wicked drive left that couldn't be stopped. and a jumpshot that beat the knicks. suck it new york. it isn't avery's fault that you guys got stomped 4-1 in '99. ur team sucked compared to avery and the rest of the spurs. and old' beaver face isn't going to turn ur team around.

That's America where you have the freedom of speech no matter how much you harm a person's feelings (like personal honor or something). Over here the freedom of speech is restricted by the right to human dignity. And as far as I know the same goes for U. S. and how about this one (VA):
If any person shall, in the presence or hearing of another, curse or abuse such other person, or use any violent abusive language to such person concerning himself or any of his relations, or otherwise use such language, under circumstances reasonably calculated to provoke a breach of the peace, he shall be guilty of a Class 3 misdemeanor.
I have no time to study your right. But you seem not to be entitled to say WHATEVER you wish.

LJ - This is America, we do have freedom of speech, BUT that doesn't entitle anyone to say anything they wish to. The Constitution grants you rights but doesn't give you entitlements.

Please tell me you can not be thinking Dallas will be a better team without Avery Johnson. It is absolutly insane for the Dallas Mavericks to believe they will be a leader in the west without Avery Johnson. Avery Johnson did not choke when he went to the line to shoot free throws in the fourth quarter. However the same can not be said for Dirk, and the other mavericks. Now, Jason Kidd is a coaches nightmare because he thinks he is better than he really is. Look at New Jersey, when Byron Scott coached that team he went to the playoffs 2 years in a row. Jason wanted Byron Scott gone, New Jersey gave him his wish and they quickly became one of the worst teams in the east. If Cuban think pushing Avery out will make them better he need to look at New Jersey. Then take a look at the Hornets, Byron Scott pushed out by the Nets/Kidd, has New Orleans playing with the so called elite teams in the west. Mark Cuban, I know its hard to loose against teams you think you can beat, but choking is also a part of the game. Coaches can not make free throws in the fourth quarter, okay Avery did but he wasn't shooting them for Dallas. Mental tougheness is a journey not a sprint.

I just think its sad that another good black coach gets thrown under the bus. After a trade; one of the worst trades in history. As a contrast, look at Phoenix. They have kept great teams, they haven`t won a championship; yet, instead of firing Frank Dantoni, they were begging him to stay. Haven`t heard Kenny or Charles mention that.

I think the TNT show and the three that appear is disgusting. It will be a good idea to name it :THREE STOOGES OF NBA on TNT. Both Charles and Ernie should know Avery Johnson was an excellent player and encouragement to Spurs. The problem is not with Johnson. Dallas will be in the same or worse situation in the coming season too. Jason Kid is not Magic Johnson. Avery will be coaching a winning team in the coming season. Let us wait and see.

Preferential treatment by the league and the REFS goes a long way in saying San Antonio,TD, are the 4 time champs that they are lest we forget the JOB they pulled on the more talented, better, Pistons a couple of years ago. But getting back to AJ he was the real deal for every guy out there who played a sport and wasn't naturally ubertalented, but through hard work and preparation improved evey year for at least 5 years though I actually beleive it was 7 straight years incredible.(side note): AJ sucks as a coach NO MAN who makes bukoo ducs wants to be berated and yelled at by another man regardless of intention this is not WAR its Ball So we DON'T WANT HIM IN CHI
