It's been a little while since we've heard from Antoine Walker(notes). We know he was in debt and trying to make some money playing in Puerto Rico. We also know that he flamed out in Puerto Rico just a few weeks later. Since then, nothing. I've just assumed that he's been practicing his trademark shimmy.
Turns out, there's a chance I was right. After all, he'll need his shimmy if he's going to be playing in the NBA again. Nope, that's not a joke.
Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker is eyeing an NBA comeback.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino says Walker will work out with several Cardinals over the next few weeks. Walker hasn't played in the NBA since 2008 and has suffered legal and financial woes since stepping away from the game.
I think I speak for everyone when I say "WHAT?!?!?" Antoine Walker is going to try to come back to the NBA? This is fantastic news in every way imaginable.
If Antoine Walker somehow is on a roster next year that's good for us because he's Antoine Walker. That's just a positive no matter which way you look at it, so I won't even bother explaining. It's even better for Walker. If he makes it back, he'll be able to pay off his debts, move on with his life, and — if Pitino's plans come to fruition — educate younger players on the need to manage their money. It's a win-win-win.
This season isn't even close to being over and I'm already excited about next year, just because we could be watching an NBA that employs Antoine Walker. It can't just be me and Samuel L. Jackson.
