Less than a month ago, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, were likening Manu Ginobili's Halloween bat incident to Michael Vick's "Little Shop of Dog Horrors." (I wish I was kidding.)
Today, Suns power forward Amar'e Stoudemire(notes) stars in a role for animals by appearing front, center and shirtless in the latest print ad for PETA's anti-fur campaign, "Ink, Not Mink."
And tomorrow? Well, PETA will be right back to writing strongly worded letters to Lindsey Hunter for having the audacity to keep his last name.
That's just the way it is, friends. It's a funny, funny world, isn't it?
But back to today ...
In an exclusive interview with PETA.org, Stoudemire talks about how much he loves his dog, Spud, and discusses his desire to raise awareness about cruelty to animals.
This quote is particularly ... um ... fun.
"I wouldn't want to see anything cruel ... happen to any animals just for ... fashion."
Gotta love those pauses.
For more on what Amar'e had to say about animal rights, and another one of his inked-up PETA ads, hit the link. In the meantime, I'll try to find out what Magic Johnson's old coat has to say about all of this.
