Drivers to Watch

Kasey Kahne The top rookie on the circuit won his third career Nextel Cup pole in just his 10th start two weeks ago at California Speedway; the 24-year-old Washington native has finished outside the top 10 the last three races since finishing just 0.028 seconds behind Elliott Sadler at the Samsung/RadioShack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway; has made four starts at Richmond on the Busch Series, with his best result being 12th last September; "I'm excited to go to Richmond. They repaved it. It's a tough little track, but it's a lot of fun to race on and I've always liked Richmond. With the new surface it should have a lot of grip, and it should be really fast."
Kevin Harvick Is sixth in the standings after recording top-10 finishes in the last two races; he and Kurt Busch both have 1,316 points, but Busch is ahead on the tiebreaker due to his victory at Bristol; has five top-10 finishes, including three among the top five, this season; has made 10 starts at Richmond, finishing second in September 2001 and sixth last May; "Well, it's neat for the fans and good for the drivers because it keeps us cool in the cars," Harvick said about racing at night in Richmond. "I think you get a bigger speed sensation at night, with the brakes glowing and the sparks flying everywhere. Believe it or not, it's actually easier to see from a driver's standpoint when you are racing at night. They've done such a good job with the lights that there are no shadows around the racetrack. It's crystal clear viewing as opposed to racing during the day."
