This week: Busch is preparing for his third appearance in the All-Star Race. "Shrub" started 10th and finishes 16th in 2006 and started sixth and finished 20th last year. He was involved in crashes in both races. Last week: After beating and banging on the competition, Busch even beat on the wall a few times, but that couldn't keep him from winning the race at Darlington. "It's pretty awesome," Busch said. "Darlington obviously showed again tonight that it is one of the hardest places -- always has been and always will be. Even with the fresh asphalt, this place is tough. I just can't thank this Joe Gibbs Racing team enough. They did an awesome job. We're going to go through a lot of tools this week fixing this thing, but that's OK. It's an awesome win for us. ... The lapped cars were great at the end -- they gave me all the room in the world." Etc.: Busch is hopeful that he and Dale Earnhardt Jr. can mend their differences regarding their crash two weeks ago at Richmond. "I've reached out to (Dale Earnhardt) Jr. -- I've called him earlier this morning and got his voicemail," Busch said. "Maybe we'll go party it up a little bit -- we'll see. Basically, we would just talk it over a little and see what his feelings are and what his outlook on the whole deal is. I don't know what he said in here (the media center), but that could be different than what he tells me or talks to me about. He's grown up knowing one of the best in the sport, and so I'm sure he has a lot of knowledge that he can still relay to me -- so I would like to listen." |
