Jimmie Johnson If you're looking for who the favorite is heading into the Chase, consider this: JJ has led 1,235 laps this season; Tony Stewart has led 275.
Tony Stewart If momentum means anything, then Smoke is slumping at the absolute wrong time. Then again, better now than in three weeks.
Denny Hamlin It's easy to have a quiet season when you're teammates with KyBusch. Did anyone even notice that Denny finished fifth at Bristol?
Jeff Gordon Don't read too much into Gordo's mediocre performance at Bristol. He was just happy to leave there not in traction.
Mark Martin The idea that Martin was soft in the closing laps at Bristol is absurd. Just goes to show that no matter what you do, there's always a critic.
Kyle Busch We're leapfrogging him to sixth because that may have been the smartest, most respectful race KyBusch has ever run.
Brian Vickers Did what he had to do, which is leave Bristol without taking a huge hit in the standings. Huge, HUGE weekend for B-Vick.
Juan Pablo Montoya Employing a points-racing strategy can't save you from blowing a tire. If JPM winds up missing the Chase, it will be because of bad luck.
Kurt Busch KuBusch sits at the top of the doing-more-with-less category, which is why one has to think Brad Keselowski won't be with Penske long.
Kasey Kahne Want to know how tight the standings are? One 28th-place finish dropped Double K from 8th to 11th in the standings.
Greg Biffle Weird stat of the Week: A year ago at this time, Biffle had 2,984 points, zero wins and 10 top 10s; currently, he has 2,986 points, zero wins and 11 top 10s. Guess you are what you are.
Carl Edwards Cuz is having a Subway kind of season: good enough to fill you up but you still know there are better options out there.
Lucky Dog:Marcos Ambrose Considering it took JPM three years to finally "get" NASCAR and Dario Franchitti lasted only a few months, how talented is Ambrose?
DNF:Clint Bowyer Clint can't point to Bristol where his Chase chances fell apart, but really it started way back in April when he began a nine-race stretch without a top 10.
