Truex won the pole for the Daytona 500 and finished 11th in the 500 for his best finish in eight starts at DIS. Truex also won the Nationwide Series race at Daytona in July 2005. "We had a real good car in February, so I feel real good about this weekend," said Truex.
Truex was one unhappy race driver after getting hit by Kyle Busch, triggering a multi-car accident. "Someone spun their tires and our lane didn't go (on the restart on lap 175)," said Truex, who went from running just outside the top five to a 37th-place finish. "Kyle just lost his head like he usually does."
Michael Waltrip Racing has scheduled a press conference for July 7 to announce its plans for 2010, and Truex is expected to be part of the announcement. Truex is expected to take over the driving duties of the No. 55 Toyota with Waltrip driving a partial schedule next year.
