This week: Vickers is still looking for his first top-10 finish at Homestead. In six starts at the track, his best finish is 18th. "We haven't had a whole lot of luck there, but we have run well at the intermediate tracks this season so I think we can end the year on a good note," said Vickers.
Last week: Vickers' run of bad luck in the Chase continued at Phoenix as he got caught up in a multi-car accident on lap 170 of the 312-lap event. The damage was so severe that Vickers was unable to continue, and he ended up 38th. "I got hit from behind and knocked into the crash," said Vickers. "It's kind of been our luck, unfortunately. We had a good car."
Etc.: To try to forget all the bad things that have happened to him and his team during the Chase, Vickers flew to his Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home immediately after the Phoenix race. "It was nice to go home and just relax for a few days," said Vickers. "It also will be nice to not be in a rush to get to the race track every day, too, because I just have to drive 30 or 45 minutes (to Homestead-Miami Speedway). It's not too far."
