This week: Busch, who trails Jeff Gordon by 42 points, won at Homestead in 2002 after starting on the pole. Busch has three top-five and three top-10 finishes in eight starts but has finished last in the 43-car field in two of his last three races, including last year. In 2007, he finished second. "We feel like there's a bit more business to take care of this weekend before the '09 season is completed," Busch said. "They were still talking last week about the huge celebration we had after the big Texas win with some onlookers saying it was a record for the most liquid sprayed and consumed after a win. I can guarantee you that if we win at Homestead on Sunday, we'll throw an even bigger party."
Last week: Busch was the only driver who could challenge Jimmie Johnson for much of the race, putting his Dodge in front twice for 69 laps, but faded to sixth. "It was a good start," Busch said. "We had a great car in the beginning, a good feel, but lost the handle. It was a tough day for the Dodge. We wanted to be right up there in the mix going for the win. Sixth place, we'll take it. Last week was a win. We're gaining points and we're still doing a good job."
Etc.: Homestead will be Busch's final race with Pat Tryson as crew chief. Busch was asked if the tandem has one more win left in them. "I think we do," Busch said. "We're bringing back Patriot, the car we won with at Texas. It's a great car. Our team has an upbeat feel. We've had a long year. We've had a successful year. There's no better way than put together a 100 percent effort this next week and go out with a bang and hopefully a win."
