This week: Gilliland finished 30th last year in his first Cup start at Darlington. "Darlington is a fun track to race at, especially since they just repaved the track surface," said Gilliland, "but we're not entirely sure how it will behave when we go out there for our first practice. I am looking forward to the challenge."
Last week: Gilliland, who started 40th, had raced his way up to the top 15 when he became involved in an 11-car accident that ended his day in 41st place. "We had a great car, and it's a shame, but everybody is so close with this new car," said Gilliland. "Everybody is on top of each other, and when something happens on a track like this (Richmond), there's just nowhere to go."
Etc.: Gilliland believes the team needs to work on its qualifying program in its quest to earn a spot in The Chase. "We just haven't been qualifying as well as we should," said Gilliland. "We've been starting 30th or worse, and track position is just very important with these cars."
