The admission by a former second-tier NASCAR driver that he raced after taking heroin last year sparked renewed scrutiny of NASCAR's drug-testing policy Thursday. Hours before qualifying for Saturday night's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway, Cup driver Kevin Harvick complained at length that NASCAR's policy is too lax according to the Los Angeles Times.
He was responding to an admission by Aaron Fike, who raced in NASCAR's Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series, that he used heroin before a truck race last summer. Fike, 25, later was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession, and NASCAR, in July, suspended him indefinitely.
NASCAR generally tests only when there is "reasonable suspicion" of drug use, but "that is not a proper professional sports drug policy," Harvick said.

Racing on heroin?? What gave him away? Was he driving 40 mph inside the white line? The thought of someone taking drugs and putting others' lives in danger is sickening...

Sorry bout that.. needed so humor. DO agree that they need stronger Policy as a whole. not just team run, but as a league they sould head up the push for testing across the board. from nascar president to the guy who sells the beers trackside at a race. Works for me..

Yes,,, Fike has a second chance to live a clean life! He is responsible to his family and friends that have supported him. BUT Nascar racing, NO. They're too many young men that live clean lives and have worked they're butts off to have a chance to race. Fike thru that away when he CHOSE to endanger his life, the other drivers on the track, his crew, all the guys on pit road,,,,
