Layoffs coming throughout NASCAR

Once the 2009 season ends at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 22, it is apparently expected that many teams will be laying off more employees than they did after last season, according to FOXSports.

Roush Fenway Racing is losing a car's worth of workers and Yates Racing does as well. Yates is actually rumored to be merging with Richard Petty Motorsports. So any way you slice it, two teams will not exist next season.

Also, the #96 Hall of Fame Racing team has been working with the use of services of Yates, which it apparently won't need next season, meaning more jobs could be lost.

It's not going to be pretty. But, then again, it's not pretty economically anywhere right now.

To post #1: If you don't like NASCAR, don't watch the races. Is anyone forcing you to watch? Ever heard of the On-Off switch?

To post #1: If you think NASCAR is such a joke, what are you doing "Wasting your time" on a NASCAR website?? Go hang out on the WNBA or Canadian Curling League websites where you belong.

I have been a die hard nascar fan for many many years but I have to agree with many of the others....NASCAR has become boring and drab. Don't know if I'll be tuning in after the end of this season. Let's go back to real racing even with the all the safety features in place racing can become worth watching again. MIS Speedway SK

Sounds like Yates and Petty will be start and park in 2010, Very soon, there will be no need to have more than 10 cars on the track. That will eliminate a lot of the accidents that happen now. I can vision seeing teams such as Steward/Haas, Hendrick, Roush, Childress and not many more. I can also see a bunch of teams leaving Nascar and Nascar falling apart in 2012. This will be all caused by the lack of trust toward Nascar, the economy, the high cost of maintaining teams and driver greediness along with the loss of interest in the sport. Over the last few years, the sport has grown to fast and the fans are getting bored with the racing and Nascar is trying to get fans involved with other activites at the track that the fans do not want and do not want to pay for. Years ago when you went to race tracks, they were all different. Now days, the tracks are all the same and so are the cars. I think it it about over.
