This week: Busch has only two top-10 finishes in 16 starts at LMS but said he still is optimistic about this weekend because of what happened at the Coca-Cola 600 in May. "We were able to put together an entire race, led (64) laps and had a top-five car before blowing a right-front tire about halfway through the race," said Busch. "We finished on the lead lap even after getting our splitter broken and having to spend extra time on pit road fixing it." He ended up 16th.
Last week: Busch spent the second half of the race running on seven cylinders as he finished 21st at Talladega. "We actually led two laps and were getting pushed really well by a car with more power than us and it actually broke our engine," said Busch. "I've never seen that happen before."
Etc.: Busch tested Tuesday at Kentucky Speedway. "We hope to learn a few things that we can apply to racing at Charlotte this weekend," said crew chief Pat Tryson. "We didn't think our test (at LMS) went as well as expected, so we decided to test at Kentucky as a move to beef up the effort for this weekend and the remaining intermediate tracks."
