Peaking at the right time

We've really gotten off to a great start. Everything feels good. The team is really charged up, and we're peaking at the right time. It's been coming all year we seem to feel like we've been gaining momentum. Though it's only been two races, they've been great.

I don't know if that momentum can continue, but we certainly have the potential to keep it going. But there are eight races to go and a lot of things can happen. You just can't judge what the outcome is going to be based on 20 percent of the program, but we certainly have the potential to continue to be this strong. We'll have to go racing and see.

Now we're heading to Kansas Speedway, and I love the intermediate tracks. They're my favorite, really. We got a win at one of my lesser favorites in the Chase – New Hampshire – so that was nice. And hopefully we'll keep going out there and giving everything we've got, and hopefully the results will be there.

I'm asked about the tracks in the Chase, and to be honest, that's not for me to think about. They are what they are. I think more about our performance and what we're doing, not dreaming about what might be different.

Obviously I'm not necessarily looking forward to Talladega. But, you know, things can turn out good for you just like they can turn out bad. Considering they didn't turn out so well for us in the first race there in April, maybe luck will shine on us there in a few weeks.

Beyond that, I feel great. I know we'll have fast race cars. We've got a great race team. We've accomplished a phenomenal amount this year. It's been incredible. Everything has been solid – from the engines to the chassis to the fabrication shop, pit crew, engineering … It's all come together on the race track for us.
