Scott Dixon wins Indy Japan 300
MOTEGI, Japan (AFP) - New Zealand's Scott Dixon completed a pole-to-finish win in the Indy Japan 300 at Twin Ring Motegi Saturday, taking a lead in the championship, which will now go to the final race of the season.
Dixon, coming into the race in third place behind overall leader Ryan Briscoe of Australia, finished the 200-lap race in one hour 51 minutes 37.6411 seconds.
"Tremendous day for Team Target. It's what we needed to do. It doesn't matter to me where I am, just as long we come out on top," said Dixon, posting his fifth win of the season, and picking up 53 points to take the championship lead.
Dario Franchitti of Scotland came in 1.4475 seconds behind Dixon and Graham Rahal of the United States was third, 3.2002 seconds behind.
Briscoe came in 18th place, 15 laps behind, while defending champion Danica Patrick was sixth.
The win gave Dixon the lead in the standings with 570 points, ahead of Franchitti on 565 points and Briscoe on 562 points. The championship will be decided in the final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 10.

I was strictly a NASCAR fan until last year when I started watching not only Indy, but F-1, ALMS and the Rolex series. I like seeing all of the different places that these series race at.
I hope that eventually, Versus will be back on DirecTv.
