This week: Kenseth is getting in some short-track racing in his native Midwest this week. On Tuesday, he won the Slinger Nationals at Slinger, Wis. Kyle Busch finished fourth. It was Kenseth's record-tying fourth victory in the event, matching the mark set by Dick Trickle, Joe Shear and Lowell Bennett. On Thursday, Kenseth will participate in the "Bootlegger's Run" Race Of Champions at Eagle Raceway near Lincoln, Neb. Drivers including Kenseth, Clint Bowyer, Ken Schrader and Sterling Marlin will compete in two eight-lap late model races on the one-third-mile dirt track. He will wrap up his off week in Newton, Iowa, spending Saturday and Sunday at the Iowa Speedway. Kenseth and Kyle Busch will compete in the Rasmussen Group Twin 75s ASA Super Later Models race on Sunday evening. Kenseth is another driver looking for his first win in 2008, but he has four top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. Last week: Kenseth was seventh at Chicagoland. Etc.: "It's funny," Kenseth said. "Most guys take their off week to go to the beach or to get away from racing, and I'm doing just the opposite. But I always have a lot of fun racing late models and racing with no pressure of points or anything. I'm really looking forward to this week a lot and think it'll be a nice change of pace for me." |
