Edwards climbed back into the top 10 in the standings after Darlington two weeks ago, moving up one position from 11th to 10th to push Clint Bowyer back out of the top 10. Edwards is 74 points behind Roush Fenway Racing teammate and Sprint Cup series leader Greg Biffle but just 12 points behind 9th-ranked Kyle Busch. 14 career starts, 0 wins, 5 top-5s, 8 top-10s, 0 poles. Best career finish: 3rd (three times -- spring 2005, spring 2006 and fall 2011). Finished 16th in last year's Coca-Cola 600 but rebounded to finish third in the fall race there. Edwards is still looking for his first points-paying win at Charlotte, a track he likes quite a bit, both because of his overall performance record there -- particularly over the last five years -- but also because it's at Edwards' favorite track length: 1.5 miles. Here's Edwards' scouting report for Sunday's race: "I'm looking forward to the Coca-Cola 600. We had a fast Ford Fusion at the All-Star Race, and a night race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is always fun. It's a long race and it's full of energy from the fans. The track changes a lot, but Bob (Osborne, his crew chief) is good at making the changes needed to keep up with the track. The Roush Fenway cars are fast and it's a big night for Fastenal. All three of our Sprint Cup cars are running a special Fastenal paint scheme to salute our military for Memorial Day. Fastenal will be there in force, and hopefully we can get our first victory (of 2012) there." ... More
