This week: Burton, who has four top-10 finishes in 10 starts at Homestead, will be racing a brand new car this weekend. He has finished in the top 10 in all three races since Todd Berrier took over as crew chief. "I have a lot of faith in Todd, and I think Todd has a lot of faith in me," Burton said. "We came into this expecting to perform well. Todd is pushing a lot of buttons and making a lot of stuff happen."
Last week: Burton overcame a bad qualifying run (36th) to finish a season-high second at Phoenix for his third consecutive top-10 finish. "I think it is fair to say that this is the best we've run all year," said Burton. "We honestly had a shot to win this race. I lost this race for us on Friday, which is really disgusting to me. But we had a good car and we'll do better (in qualifying)."
Etc.: Burton gives a "yes and no" answer when asked if he is glad Homestead is the last race of the year. "I'm glad we'll be able to stop and start over," said Burton. "The flip side is that in order to keep getting better, you have to keep working. Our focus on getting better will continue in the offseason, but it's hard to measure yourself as a team. We won't know until February if we did the things we needed to do."
