From the Marbles - NASCAR

A woman was hit by a stray bullet while sitting in her RV at Texas Motor Speedway Sunday. According to investigators, someone had apparently fired a gun into the air. She had what was described as a "significant wound" but was in stable condition at last report.

Huh. Shot by a bullet fired into the air at Texas Motor Speedway. You don't suppose ...

Nah. Couldn't be. Or could it ... ?

(Note: in the interest of full disclosure, she was apparently hit before the race. So unless Carl Edwards can warp time as well as stretch a gas tank, I think we can rule him out as a suspect. Still, an interesting coincidence, no?)

What a tragedy ! People with IQ's below forty should not be allowed near a gun. What goes up.. must come down...

I was wondering about that discharge (can I say that on Yahoo! Jay?) of weaponry when Carl was blastin' a couple caps off in the air. Who was responsible for making sure that thing had blanks in it? That would be a huge gun safety no-no any place except Texas and South-Central LA.
Just think all the firepower that will be unleashed into the sky in the middle east come Tuesday night when Obama is elected President. I'd hate to be anywhere inside Iraq or Iran with the celebrating they will be doing. Do they make bullet-proof umbrellas?

It shouldn't have been to hard to find the camp spot that shot the weapon if it was inside the track. I gunshot is a fairly recognizable sound. Hope the lady will be alright.

Rachael Ray was partying in the infield, maybe she had to much moonshine and went hunting for Mario Batalli. (sp)
Will the one sided media cover the calibrations overseas? I think not.

Just what decent good law abiding gun owners need a moron shootin in the air. I bet this is the same jerk who wonders why folks want to take his guns away.

#6 Carol would it be easier do you think to roll up in one of those little Sherman Tanks and just not worry about the body armour and shin pads ?

It didn't even have to be a race-goer. I remember a story just recently when a man fired his rifle on New Year's Eve, I think it was, and was mighty suprised when the bullet entered a home over 300 yards away to kill a woman sitting at her kitchen table, and then changed trajectory to injure her daughter lying on the couch nearby. Responsible gun owners know better.

Yikes! Carol, I remember getting bored at a military firing range once when I was a teenager and shooting at the range flag pole, never stopped to think how far a .303 rifle bullet might fly if I missed never mind where it would land.
Good job we are not allowed to legally carry weapons I would probably need a twelve mile exclusion zone for everyone else's safety :-)

Sherman tank, Art. You can probably get on for cheap on E-Bay.
We've already voted, having only had to stand in line for 45 minutes instead of the hours-long waits they're predicting for tomorrow. But Art, while it may be a good job that YOU cannot carry a gun; (grin) your crime rate is second only to that of Australia. Crime rates go UP when law-abiding citizens are forbiddent to defend themselves.

I noticed a change in your scenery Hugs5X so I thought to check it out and in so doing it would have been difficult not to notice the topical notice on your T-shirt, it is not like I get a kick out of checking out the boobies on an avatar I have more important things on my mind like my Happy Harvick Hat, trying to sing in tune and in time with my guitar checking if there is any way I can get to see Mr ED when he appears at London's Wembley Stadium in mid December and cheese cake :-) Apart from the mostly lurking rfk most of us seem to prefer our avatars dressed :-)
