From the Marbles - NASCAR

Time to put the 2009 season on the shelf once and for all. Were you ready for it to be done, or do you want a year-round schedule? (Bite your tongue, year-rounders. We need a breather!)

Anyway, even though the racing is done for the year, we're not going anywhere. We'll be posting plenty every single day, and we'll continue with our regular weekly chats throughout the offseason. We'll also be continuing the podcasts -- remember to call in and you too can get on the show. We'll also be kicking off a couple new features starting today, including our "Best of the Decade" series (one guess as to what that will focus on) and "Stale Whines," in which we take on the different complaints about NASCAR and its drivers and, one by one, put stakes through their hearts. (The complaints, not the drivers.) It's going to be just like the regular season, except without the races -- and considering the quality of some of the races this year, that might be a good thing.

We'll do a complete season recap after Thanksgiving, but for now, post your thoughts below -- favorite moments of 2009? Least favorite? Best storylines? Have your say ... and then get ready. After all, it's less than three months to Daytona.

Thank God that this "yawn fest" is over! I set a new DVR record for the race yesterday.....I watched all the "racing" in 46 minutes. Needless to say, when I got to the finish and the "JJ orgasmathon " began, the delete button was activated. Seriously, after listening to the four announcers for the first minute after the race conclusion, I wondered who would be the first to give JJ a BJ, his wife or one of the supposed analysts!

So.,......... hmmmmm........ I was ready for the break but will be counting down the days till Daytona and a new season. There was so much going on this year that I can't pinpoint a specific moment. But with that being said, Smoke and Newman doing good in their first season together was impressive. Think that was a great move for both of them. Jr having a crappy year was a bummer but hey there is always next year. I know there will be some (yeah cg, J48, JT for starters) will be in hog heaven over JJ getting his 4th straight Championship. Congrats to team 48 but lets hope that next year they will possibly try to mix up the chase races to where JJ will have to work a little harder. lol

Gator -- Message heard, sir, loud and clear.
Carol -- I take my naps during the races, so I'm well-rested. I had a computer program that would spit out predetermined phrases at random intervals -- "JJ to the lead" ... "Junior in 28th" ... et cetera.
By the way, loyalists, if you want some fun, go check the venom at work in the Tiger/Kobe/JJ thread. Drive-by commenters aplenty.

Jay - I was reading some of those. I think the ones yelling the loudest about drivers not being athletes have never been in a race car EVER!!! Everyone of them should do either a ride along or actually drive one of them with one of the driving schools. Would open their eyes totally. I almost wanted to ask if their athletes played the whole game straight through, without breaks for commericals or whatever. :-)

    Sorry pathetic rednecks…………….
NASCAR is not a sport, it’s an activity, and their drivers are NOT athletes.
Jesus, I’d even consider Indy Car Racing more of a sport than NECKCAR, at least those hillbillies have mastered turning RIGHT for God sakes.
NASCAR is just about as exciting as watching grass grow. You idiots are too stupid to realize that they record the first three laps and put them on a loop for the next three hours. But then again, who would be expected to know the difference.
    Even you cousin lovin’ freaks.
    And on a side note………………….
Where the hell is OLIVER, that 3rd grade remedial English dropout is the king of all redneck losers.
How old is that moron, like 12?
Hey son, get off mommy’s computer and get back to your milk and cookies.

Idiots like NewYawk, are the reason we on the Jersey Shore looked forward to Labor Day. Probably one of those idiots who could'nt figure out why someone in a 78 Oldsmobile would'nt yield to his Beemer coming out of a toll booth on the GSP(my book value was lower than his insurance deductable, that's why). Now for someone with a Yankee logo as an avatar to call NASCAR boring.. uh hello kettle this is pot(and I've been a Yankee fan since the 70's). I mean do they really need 2-3 minutes between pitches? I'm watching game 6 of the WS and my wife starts yelling at Matsui(who'd fouled several pitches off at that point) to hit a damn fair ball really now.

Um....this photo came from my front yard. I cropped the shovel out of the photograph.
Actually, true story: I image-searched on "the party's over" to get a good photo for this post, and the first one was hysterical--two dudes completely passed out on tables and the floor. Then the more I looked at it, the more it started to look like a crime scene that someone had repurposed...so I let that one go. Marbles has enough people hating on it right now; no need to add "Faces of Death" to the mix.

Curiousity did not kill the cat.....the cat killed itself after being forced to watch the Homestead post race "analysis" . By the way, New York, if your area is so great, why do NY people count the days until they can retire and....move south? Happiness is seeing NYC in your rearview mirror.
