From the Marbles - NASCAR

NASCAR has taken it on the chin a lot lately, what with the racial-discrimination suits and the sagging ratings and the getting bounced for America's Funniest Home Videos and whatnot. It's high time somebody recognized that these guys are athletes and that their achievements are indeed worthy of respect and admiration.

Take Jimmie Johnson. Look there. He made Sports Illustrated's cover, and he -- GAH! What the heck is wrong with that picture? It's like he's staring into my soul!

(The real, non-demonic cover is right here, if you're so inclined. And One Bad Wheel even has some excerpts of the story right here, though I'll be damned if I can find a link myself. That Sports Illustrated site is more tangled and incomprehensible than three seasons of Lost.)

Anyway, good for JJ, breaking big like that. And now, the evening is yours, friends. Have at it.

I don,t understand why a driver can lead the points all the way up until the chase and then the driver doesn,t get credited for all the points he had lead by. I also think that the chase is fixed because jimmie johnson had no business even winning the cup. As far as i,m concerned jimmie johnson is a cheater and i will not be watching racing anymore for that reason, and i am a huge jeff gordon fan.

a fix was in play here and it stinks . what is the matter with those people anyway? let it be won fair and square . nascar dug themselves with this hole . and a whole lot of money changed hands on it.. shame on you nascar for doing this to all of us who are fans . we may not be when this leaks out.

Well Nascar did good this year-it only took til June that I found better things to do with my Sundays.I have been watching races since they were on The Wild World Of Sports, before the idiotic chase format,IROC COT's,half empty cookie cutter tracks and one of the most boring corporate robots in JJ and his cheating crew chief.France can blame everything on the economy and treat the true blue fan like garbage without missing a beat since his true daddie's are the TV networks. It is sad to watch a once proud sport slowly spiral down the drain while France whistles by the cemetery ignoring the facts.

so if this thread has not made it to the Yahoo Sports homepage, muchless the NASCAR homepage, how do you non-fans find this? If you are a "non"-fan, how can you read this "garbage" and comment if you haven't been watching NASCAR all year? Cause, if you're a non-fan, you wouldn't waste your time watching, right?
I love arguments from all sides, but sheesh... at least come with some more substance than they're all a bunch of cheaters.

Hi, MP. Dinner was good. Deep pit beef instead of turkey, but it was good! Some one baked a ham and then there were all the side dishes. No one missed the pumpkin pie. One of the women I work with told me where I might be able to find a sweet potato pie. I will go this weekend and check, since they are rare as hen's teeth around here. I'm going to call it an early night again. I had to have my 15 year old dog put down today and am bummed about it, even though it was the best thing for him. I have 15 years of great memories with him. The funniest was when some squirrels were throwing pine cones at him when we were camping a few years ago. He would chase those squirrels and try to climb the tree after them!

He does look old in the pic and also looks like he's wearing a wig. Don't know if it's the camera angle, the lighting, both, some photoshopping or Jimmie himself. Odd looking, though!

Not much going on here. Had another soccer game to go to tonight. Had 2 deer on the side of the road and then another one jump out in front of me on the way home tonight. I have to travel a road that we have dubbed deer alley. Very seldom will you drive down it when a deer doesn't make it's presence known. lol Last night coming home from getting my hair cut, had a nice buck standing in the middle of the road. If I didn't like my vehicle so much I would have done everything I could to nail his tail. lol How's work going? Your last night isn't it?
