NASCAR Flashback: The Intimidator takes over Letterman

Following up on last week's NASCAR-meets-Letterman countdown, here's a gem from 1998 -- Dale Earnhardt handles Top-10 duties all by himself. The topic? "Top 10 Reasons it took me 20 years to win the Daytona 500":

Great stuff. And I think we may have a new Pit Chatter character in there ... "Uncle Ricky."

    Don't drink anything before you play the video. Make sure you have nothing in your mouth when it gets to the middle section. Pay close attention to this advice, or you may need a new monitor or keyboard when you laugh at one particular reason. It was better than the number 1 reason!! (Now, I didn't give anything away, did I?)

    I missed this originally when it aired so it's great to see Dale Sr. poking some fun at himself here today. This sport is desperately lacking men of Dale's character, whit and intensity. Whether you were a fan of his or not, he was inarguably the most influential figure in modern racing history. The drivers today need someone to stand up and be a leader in the garage, to rekindle that masculine persona so lacking in cookie cutter corporate "Stepford" clones.
