TALLADEGA, ALA. - Never let it be said that Michael Waltrip and Aaron's don't know how to play to their audience. To commemorate Auburn's win in the national championship (that would be college football, for you non-stick-and-ball types), Waltrip will be running the school's blue-and-orange colors for Sunday's Aaron's 499 at Talladega.

Waltrip, a Kentucky basketball fan, had hoped to run a similar scheme for the Kentucky Wildcats at the Kentucky Speedway later this year, but the Wildcats didn't hold up their end of the deal. MWR teams have run cars honoring both the Alabama and Texas national championship football teams in recent years.

This is a nice gesture for Waltrip and Aaron's, but I sure hope money didn't change hands. That never happens when you're talking about college football, because it would be just wrong.
