I don't think it would be physically possible to combine two drivers who have more, um -- how should we put this? -- ardent detractors than Kyle Busch and Scott Speed. And so naturally, Chip Ganassi Racing, with special guest star Felix Sabates, will be running the team as a second entry in the July 4 Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona.
Speed and The D00D will make their debut in the No. 02 Waste Management Lexus Riley; feel free to make whatever easy jokes about sponsorship that you like. They'll accompany Sabates' defending champion team of Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, running (appropriately enough) the No. 01 TELMEX Lexus.
Chip Ganassi noted that Speed has plenty of road course experience to go with those wacky toenails, and that Busch can drive damn near anything ever built even if it often ends up in the wall. Well, those weren't his exact words, but you get the idea.
The race will take place at 2 p.m. on July 4. Six hours later, Busch and Speed will run in the Coke Zero 400. So, yeah, probably no time to get out to the beach in between, but you never know.
Now, this pairing will bring out the haters in droves, but me, I'm seeing more potential. Two words: reality show. Goofball & The Brat! It's genius, I tell ya!

Well I was wondering when this was going to happen. No, not when D00D1 and D00D2 got together to record "Peanut Butter & Jelly", when we would see Kyle get behind the wheel of a real race....uh....sports car. He has certainly turned on the obnoxious factor this weekend with his "I knew we would finish second" whining but I can't wait to see what he can do in a Ganassi Daytona Prototype. He's going to have to use skill and finesse to get by Pruett, Max Angelelli (please just a few laps of them racing nose to tail), and Dan Gurney, to name a few, because rubbing is not racing in the real world. Hopefully he doesn't try to amputate his finger like Jimmie did before his lackluster debut.
And Kyle. go whine to your girlfriend about your inability to seal the deal this year, frankly I'm getting tired of listening to you cry. Poor stinkin' ungrateful brat.
