From the Marbles - NASCAR

Four links from around the world of NASCAR to get your week going ...

• Know who earned the most points in the final six races? Sure, Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards. But you know who was third? Jamie McMurray. Yep. He's comin' on strong, according to SceneDaily.

• The days of excess in NASCAR are over. New measure under consideration: each team gets four wheels, no more. Drive wisely, gentlemen. (Not really.)

• Clueless editorialist slathers cliched criticism all over NASCAR. Let me know if you want me to do a takedown here, or whether we let this one lie.

• David Poole recommends everybody stop holding Dale Earnhardt Jr. to daddy's standards. It ain't gonna work.

I think they should only get 4 wheels, but unlimited tires. that way they have to put new rubber on the rims during pit stops. very exciting

As far as excess in NASCAR goes maybe they should scale back give up some of the incredibly expensive technology they use and go back to the older days when the way you set the car up was by drivin it at the track and then tweakin it, instead of computer simulators. Keep the safety gains made, but go back and put some Stock in the Stock cars, maybe stock blocks and heads for starters. Cut driver and crewchief salaries. Lower purses for winning. Then make it affordable to the average fan.

Jr. can never live up to his daddy's reputation or legend, is it fair no but we will always compare the 2. Ask Kyle petty how much fun it is. It's not juts sons but brothers, nephews, cousins whatever Mikey Waltrip will never be DW, the closest and perhaps better driver was Davey Allison. He would have been one of the greats if not taken to soon from us, better than Bobby in my opinion.

You keep making me read these liberal nut job web sites and people are gunna start thinking I'm a tree huger. The Huffington Post? I was wondering how long it was going to take with all the "global warming" nonsense before the "save-the-planet" groupies went after Nascar again like they did in the 70's. You could spit hot fire (as farmer boy would say) and light that place on ablaze as far as I'm concerned. Though the article was not horrendously offensive and took a more touchy-feely approach to their argument, letting any of that kind of talk get started is very dangerous with the king of liberalism now in the white house. That would be a marquee ruling for Obama to ban racing to appease his wacky far left. I say go get um and post it on the front page. There will be input from both sides but should be very interesting reading.

So what I learned from reading the Huffington post was that as a leftist-leaning colleged-educated woman, I'm not allowed to like NASCAR.
If I promise to hurl invectives at the TV every once in a while, do you think I can still watch the races?

"Turns out the NASCAR audience is a beefy niche, albeit a loyal, beefy niche. The hard cold fact of the matter is that grocery store managers are some of NASCAR's most adoring fans. They willingly grant NASCAR sponsors more shelf space in exchange for all manner of freebies."
This is an outrage! The grocery store managers are giving more space to NASCAR sponsors. THOSE BASTARDS. This is the final straw. I am never buying groceries again.

Oh, I guess Pat won't post your comment on her site until she approves it. what a p***y. I bet my comment won't even make it on her page, mainly cause I'm not a college educated female. I mean really, how many times have you heard NASCAR or anyone ever say that? Hey Pat, Get A Clue, and don't start spouting off about something that you know nothing about. Use alternative fuels in the cars. Great idea, DA. I won't even put that 10% ethenol in any combustion engine i ever own, much less go watch a race where they are burning that crap. If saving the planet means i need to run inferior fuel in my bike, then sorry planet, Boom......Outta Here. Well, at least we know Busbee's got the brass ones to let us post our comments, agreeing or disagreeing.
Busbee spits hot fire, and isn't afraid to take the heat, unlike PAT

sorry, didn't mean to go off. It's just so freaking cool to be green now, you've got people looking to bash on anything that uses gas. I just wish people would stick to what they know, and PAT obviously doesn't know crap about NASCAR. The races boost the economy of the city which they are held in. Ever wonder how many people work at one single race? I dunno, but NASCAR provides alot of jobs and opportunities, and alternative fuel racing is ludacris. Pat needs to pull her head out of her arse, and get a life. I would pay a million dollars to spray Pat in the face with a full can of mace.

whahahahaha. Pat did post my comment, well, i guess she only deserves half a can of mace now. After all, mace is bad for the environment, and I'm just trying to do my part to save the planet. At times like this, I wish Captain Planet was still around, you know his blue arse would do something about NASCAR destroying the planet.
