• Larry McReynolds says today's drivers need to toughen up and quit whining about other drivers racing them hard. Say this for Larry -- he knows what resonates with the audience. [Fox Sports]

• McReynolds is also in the midst of a media fight with newspaperman Dustin Long over comments Long published by McReynolds. Was McReynolds too negative on NASCAR? Did Long not publish enough positive material? That's what's under debate. [The Daly Planet]

• Think that things can't go wrong for Jimmie Johnson at Talladega? Think again. Back in 2002, everything went wrong. [NASCAR.com via Yahoo! Sports]

AJ Allmendinger got tagged early Thursday morning for DWI. Drunk driving is not funny, and police did not say that Allmendinger was pulled over to the side of the road waiting for a pit crew to give him four and a splash. [That's Racin]

• Uh-oh ... Dale Earnhardt Jr. has entered the Top 10 in the FLOPPER (Finishes Last in Overall Points while Participating in Every Race) standings! Paul Menard still holds the lead, but still ... [All Left Turns]

Another story said that Dinger "had a few drinks over dinner" and "made a bad decision" to drive. Now maybe we find out just how deep The King's anti-alcohol bias goes.

Dinger caught driving drunk. I don't know why but, it doesn't surprise me. No comment from the Petty camp as yet. Wonder if this will affect his new sponsorship with Best Buy?

MarkN - You mentioned on another article about hearing on the radio talk about Jr being distracted. Can you say what those implications were? Jr is now in the top 10 on the Flopper List.

They didn't say but implied that he was being distracted not just racing but things outside of racing. They didn't come out and say it but it sounded like he was partying a little more than before.

Yes, Mark. But the article in More Nascar News links at the top of the comments also says this:
"Allmendinger is a major factor in RPM’s long-range plans, and team officials told The Associated Press that Allmendinger was going to be moved into Petty’s famed No. 43 next season. Best Buy is expected to sponsor the car."

Condolences to the family and friends of Dick Thompson.
Dinger busted?!? According to Yahoo, he is listed at 155 pounds. According to most research, he would be at .08 with less than 3 servings of alcohol. Some drinks may have that much in one drink. I happen to like Lynchburg Lemonades...the last one I had was big enough that it had 2 shots of JD in it. Admittedly it lasted me about an hour. And I did not drive after drinking it. And I don't think I danced on any tables, either!

I hear you, Rudy. How's the weather in Wisconsin? I thought about you as I was headed east out of Visalia yesterday...could see the mountains. Sawtooth was pointing the way to Mineral King! Could see Moro Rock in Sequoia, too.

brini - I never did like alcohol, although I did consume my share of beer at on time in my life. I just don't have any desire to drink now! I was going to say, "anymore", but I know what the reply to that would be! LOL
Kim - The weather here is WET! Not a lot of rain, just a steady drizzle. I'd rather it would snow!
