Each weekday morning, we offer up the best in NASCAR news and info. Use it to get your day started right.
David Exum offers up his picks for 2009: "1. Jeff Gordon - The four-time Cup champion won't only make the Chase but will finally win the fifth title that he has been seeking since 2001. Gordon won't start the Chase as the top seed, but I have confidence that this is his year. You might think I'm going out on a limb picking Gordon, but I predict he'll win six to seven races in 2009." Gordon is seen here performing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" at last month's Media Week.
Dover Motorsports sells off Memphis Motorsports Park: "Dover Motorsports Inc. on Friday announced it has agreed to sell Memphis Motorsports Park to Gulf Coast Entertainment, LLC. Under the terms of the agreement, Dover Motorsports will sell all of the stock of its subsidiary Memphis International Motorsports Corp., the owner of Memphis Motorsports Park, to Gulf Coast Entertainment for $10 million in cash. Gulf Coast is currently building a 'multiuse entertainment complex' near Mobile, Ala., with plans to include a 0.7-mile oval track. Alabama Motorsports Park has been branded a "Dale Earnhardt Jr." Speedway, as Earnhardt Jr., sister Kelley Earnhardt and brother Kerry Earnhardt all were part of the original investment group. Alabama Motorsports Park is scheduled to open in 2011."
Kasey Kahne digging his Bud sponsorship, Super Bowl tickets. Says Kasey: "It's definitely one of the benefits. Ever since this whole Bud thing has happened, I've had all kinds of really cool, fun, exciting things I've been able to do -- whether they're appearances, or I just do it because Budweiser can get involved in about any sporting event or concert they want to do. I've enjoyed it. The extras have been a lot of fun with 'em."
Ad sales for Fox are progressing well enough: "Advertising sales for NASCAR's season-opening Daytona 500 on Feb. 15 appear to be on par, Fox Sports tells Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal, but projections for the first two quarters of 2008 are about 25 percent below last year's level. A Fox source told the publication the network is still asking $550,000 for 30-second spots, which it got for last year's season-opening Sprint Cup race. But several other sources put rates in the $350,000 to $450,000 range, according to the report on the Sports Business Journal site. Additionally, one source said, Daytona 500 spots at the higher rates include additional placement in prerace and postrace shows."

Maggie D - I agree Jeff is focused on father-hood and being with Ingrid and Ella, but I don't think he ever lost the drive to win last year... just because he DIDN'T win, doesn't mean he doesn't WANT to win

But then again, they have already written off Tony. I do not think he will do as bad as these anaylst think. I mean yes he has changed teams, but he has not forgotten how to drive. And he does that really good.
Good luck to all drivers. I am just ready for the season to start.
