From the Marbles - NASCAR

Every morning, we bring you the best news and notes from around NASCAR. Use them to get your day started right.

• Brilliant move there, NASCAR, scheduling your second race of the year directly opposite the Academy Awards. (Aside: Check out Smoke there on the red carpet. Think he bought that tux, or just rented it?) [Life in the Turn Lane]

• Think your job is tough? Try going over the wall for a pit stop with cars speeding all around you. Yeah, corporate life doesn't sound so bad now, does it? [The NASCAR Insiders]

• Jack Roush is promoting alternative fuels ... just not for NASCAR. [AP via USA Today]

• Another fine tribute to the late Dale Earnhardt. [NASCAR Nuts n' Bolts]

The Daly Planet is back, and some folks are less thrilled about that than others. Blog fight! Blog fight! [The Daly Planet, Diecast Dude]

Thanks Nascar for starting the race at 5:15 and they say it's a family sport.
They start the race later when it on the east coast so why not start it sooner when it's on the west coast.

NASCAR is becoming as fake a wrestling, it decides who should and who should not have a chance to win a race. It needs to start to show some consistency in the way it disciples it's drivers. The drivers that are bringing in the sponsors can get away with screwing up a otherwise good race with not retribution wile a no name driver dose the same thing is penalized. This sport is no longer worth watching.
Changes need to be made and made soon!!!!

Re: The last link. Jay - I hope you're ignoring the blogger's suggestions that you post less. I'll admit to skipping over the Danica posts (not really interested in whether the tramp stamp is there or not) but you hit way more than you miss, and I use checking for updates as a mini-reward for finishing projects at work.

Just DUMB. Thats the only way I can describe the NASCAR/FOX scheduling plan. Makes it all the more easy to turn off this week's race if tunrs in to a follow the leader affair.

They should take the Cali track cut it in half make another Ricmond and the other half another wider Bristol.
Run one race in the beginning of the year and the other in the Chase. Then maybe someone will go to the track.

I think it's just the resolution on my computer screen, but Tony's shirt looks 1970's ruffled in the picture. Which is awesome.

I like MarkN's suggestion. But, better yet, just do away w/ Cali all together. Then we'll have an open date for Kentucky Speedway. Everyone knows they're gonna end up w/ a race anyhow. Maybe then, another TRUE Southern track, won't be dumped. Hell, tape delay ANY 1 1/2 ml. race, give a few fans a glass of wine & those Cali fans wouldn't know the difference anyway... LOL. p.s. PRAY TO GOD, that "Dusty" doesn't put Stephen in a Cup car !!! He'll make Jr. & the Wreckers look like kindergarten. Then again, maybe "Sliced B.S." will have somebody to play bumpercars with...

Jay - I read that Diecast blog and his complaints about our Danica softcore and that you put up too many posts. Well, I'm just saying thanks for doing both. The Marbles is akin to eating my swedish fish. It would suck if you only got one. How he doesn't get that is beyond me but I'm thinking jealousy has many faces.

I didn't realize the race was starting so late. That's just stupid. I guess I'll be DVRing the race, cuz I'm watching the Oscars.

Thanks, guys. Wasn't looking to start a bunch of shots at Jerry. He and I just have different aims here. If he (and other bloggers) want to delve deeply into one subject a day, great--I enjoy that. I've found that to drive readership, all I have to do is throw up a Danica pic or a Dale story. That lets me do the other, stranger stuff.
And although I'd love to cut down to one post a day or three a week and still get paid, I think my bosses might have a word or two for me.
